The recordings in this release are all of items that are usually powered by electricity - a Casio keyboard, a Korg midi controller, a Fender electric guitar, a digital camera, and an Xbox controller. All of these things lose most, or all, of their functionality when starved of power.
By close mic'ing, or attaching piezos, I have amplified the accidental sounds of the switches, sliders, clips, cases, and textures of the objects, and have presented familiar items in an unfamiliar way.
Recorded on the 4th and 5th of August, 2012, in Lye, West Midlands.
- More inspiration from the latest post on the classical N&N thread: - "Album consist of previously unpublished interpretations of traditional church songs. The pieces, have been created over last few years mostly as commissioned works, and now finally collected and released on the CD by Polish National Center for Culture." Michal Jacaszek: production, arrangments, electronics;
Dominik Dublinowski: string arrangments, violin, voice;
Ania Smiszek-Wesolowska: cello;
Marcin Bocinski : mastering.
ETA:
Soundcloud / Daniel Padden (from Volcano The Bear)
Sonny Clark - Cool Struttin'
This makes me think of those Direct TV ads.
Mine would be "When you need to present at a conference you drive to Chicago. When you drive to Chicago you stop by Corner Records on the way home. When you stop by Corner Records you buy a Grant Green CD. When you buy a Grant Green CD you like the pianist. When you like the pianist you buy a Sonny Clark album."
Except mine doesn't end with "Don't buy a Sonny Clark album."
Prof, if you ever find yourself thinking the trumpet (or is it flugelhorn) on 'Cool Struttin' sounds good, it may lead you on to discover the great Art Farmer, which you would be unlikely to regret.
eta, from around the same time with much the same band, plus Kenny Burrell:
@Doofy, I do have at least one Art Farmer album from the Guvera haul (I think maybe "Portrait of..."), but confess I have not really focused on it properly. I'll dig it out. And I did actually notice that the brass wind thingy on Cool Struttin sounded good.
offthesky & Radere - The Season of Lost Buttons
ETA, I'm glad a digital release of this is coming, because it's interesting, but 20 Euros is a bit much.

"Since the launch of the Moog synthesizer in the early seventies, Knudsen has been the most significant Danish explorer of the tonal potential of electronic instruments exclusively, or in combinations with traditional instruments." http://kenneth-knudsen.dk/
