As this is currently the only CD I have in my car I've now played it three times in the last couple of days. I haven't played it in a long time and I had forgotten how good it is. But I must take out some more CDs later!

amc - that is cold! I reckon, if my maths is correct, it is about -7, cold indeed.

The "Too Beautiful" album is nowhere to be found, not even on Rdio.
That's why I wrote "Because they don't have a strong digital presence...". :) In fact, there's a fair amount of experimental music whose label owners (e.g. Erstwhile) have not considered it essential for their market to make their offerings widely available digitally, particularly streaming. It's still a cd/packaging focus with many. The bulk of my CD purchases these days are from this market segment, usually through Erstwhile's distribution service.

Every time I listen to this, I just have to say 'wow!'

@Greg, I see you've had quite a listening run of Van Morrisson albums lately. I don't have any of the ones you've posted yesterday and today. Besides Astral Weeks, I have Common One, Inarticulate Speech of the Heart, Poetic Champions Compose, Avalon Sunset, and What's Wrong With This Picture? I haven't even checked out his 2012 release yet, and I don't have any 'best of' which is why I didn't realize I could get the Healing Game single without ordering the album. But I'm glad I ordered the entire album and can't wait to get it.

@Kez - I sometimes just play through several albums by the same artists when I'm working. Interestingly, I don't recognise a couple of the albums you have. I suspect, like the Beatles, he had different releases in the States from the UK. Looking at Amazon yesterday, all his major releases, other than the most recent Born to Sing plus Moondance and Astral Weeks, are not available as downloads - maybe they are about to release them as remastered?? Alongside those three the only other mp3 albums are rehashes of the same dubious, probably bootleg, session recorded in New York many years ago. The last album, see below, is influenced by his jazz leanings more than some over the last ten years or so. I am sure though that you will enjoy the whole Healing Game CD as there are some great tracks. His live shows are 'interesting' - very little talk, sometimes he will say the title, but that is all, and no encore. But the power of his voice is still amazing - or at least it was 5 or 6 years ago when I last saw him.

Update - just checked both Seven Digital UK and iTunes - just the same - weird...

Downloaded this from Jonah's Jazz Picks. His comment sums it up:
I Think You’re Awesome, Løft Mig, Op Så Jeg Kan Nå: Absolutely fascinating music from this quintet out of Denmark, who mix Nordic jazz, folk, pop, avant-garde, and, apparently, anything else that seems right at the time. Instruments like juno synths, Wurlitzer and banjo fit seamlessly with guitar, bass, drums, trumpet and trombone. Music drifts peaceably, and it moves with a spry motion, and it twitters with excitement, driving forward with a determined gait. Hard to really compare it with anything. Led by bassist Jens Mikkel, and includes keyboardist Kasper Staub, who has been putting out some solid music lately. Just too cool, and mesmerizing as hell. Find of the Week.

There is Soundcloud link with his review to one track, worth the listen at least. And Brighternow, they are Danish!!

    - Nice find ! - and free from their homepage (in 256 kbps cbr), unless this is a live version of the album. But I don't think so, the runtime is exactly the same as the €mu version.

    - Thanks guys !

ETA: the title translates to "Lift me up so I can reach"

Thanks for the information, BN. I bought it at emusic, but it is only 6 tracks long so not too bad! I'm playing again. But for free I think everyone here at emusers ought to be playing this today and supporting Denmark...

    300x300.jpg

BN - as you are the one who speaks Danish, maybe you could summarise their website information for MiG with a link to the album? They deserve a wider audience

I'll be checking out that Danish album tonight; thanks guys! It will go well with the Danish book I'm reading, which I should post to the reading thread...

    @ Greg: Hmmmm ? I guess I could . . . .
It's mostly about football and a very nice little story about a little boy's struggle to reach something totally out of reach.
