In preparation for our South America trip I've been reading up on recent Brazilian music. I'd got enough emusic credits for this album before going on hold, but there is so much I want I think I'll continue for Thursday's refresh as I'll spend all my credits in the week I have!
I still think everyone in the world should listen to this.
- Alright then . . .
David Smith: This is one of the most beautiful releases I have discovered. Understated, gently yearning, melancholically hopeful, organic and melodic. Perfect evening music. Favorite track: All That Is Solid Melts Into Air.
- That David guy certainly has a way with words.
And yes, it's excellent.
Followed by one of my early Emusic purchases:
"The Key to Songs is for 2 pianos, mallet percussion , viola and cello with midi electronics. It has been performed worldwide as a concert piece and used as a musical score by major ballet companies. RETURN was commissioned to be played in Planetariums for the occassion of the return of Halley's Comet.
- "The recording for Bobby Previte's "Terminals" is nearly finished! "Terminals" is a series of concerti for So Percussion plus master improvisers as soloists. Here's a bit of Nels Cline (Wilco) melting our faces..."
- And:
"For their third album Mats Gustafsson, Johan Berthling and Andreas Werliin team up with Oren Ambarchi, a true explorer of the guitar, re-routing the instrument into a zone of alien abstraction where it´s no longer easily identifiable as itself as The Wire once wrote. As with Jim O´Rourke on the previous album this is not a mere guest appearance, Ambarchi is fully intergrated as a member making this a glorious monster of a record. With their heavy, hypnotic, psychedelic rock´n´jazz explorations they have carved out a monumental and different sound than any of the projects they are normally associated with."

I'll listen to almost anything once, but, although this is not 'my type of music', it is worthy of more than one listen!
- The Wergo version including "The Wild Bull"
If you like John Coltrane you will like this - the first track is even called John Coltrane!
Eta; pardon me for not reading my notes very well, but is part of this on the Water mix?
Randy Everett - My Flying Dream
This feels as if it's just on the verge of me liking it more than I do.

The Antlers - Familiars

I'm gonna give it another spin or two, and if it still floats my boat, go buy the thing.
Cheers.
