@Jonahpwll - you are absolutely right about James Hamilton! I had just started playing this, went to his website for the cover, but instead followed up the link to the Drawing Hands album. So I didn't get past the first track - playing it now instead
You've been listening to a couple artists lately that I've put down reminders to dig up some CDs and give a listen myself. Tal Farlow is the latest. It's been too long since I gave him a listen. I remember the first CD of his I purchased, at Jerry's Record Exchange... can't remember what it was called, but it had him (or someone) on the cover painting a wall. I remember really enjoying that album and searching down more of his work. I never was much into jazz guitar, but I remember enjoying his work.
Cheers.
Ola Kvernberg - "The Mechanical Fair"
-I fucking love this album. It is stunning how gorgeous it is. I'll be writing something for BitW soon, but you should just go buy it now.
@Jonah, some of these albums are coming up because I created a playlist of jazz I haven't listened to in a while, and a lot of my old CDs are on it. I remember the exact sequence that led me to Tal too, because I bought this rather obscure (but awesome) Red Norvo album on a whim:
which led to this, also awesome and a little obscure:
And thus to Tal. BTW:
I can't recall if that led me to Ray Brown or, more likely, I took a chance on this CD because of my familiarity with Ray Brown at the time. In fact, I'm certain that Brown was what got me to pull the trigger on it.

Lovely so far.
See the Bandcamp thread.

A set of music from his various ensembles including Grand General.
Also, highly recommend the Mosaic set on Farlow.
