I downloaded this because it was free in the Microsoft sale and because in a conversation a few months ago with someone less than half my age who found out I listened to electronic music they said "so, like the chemical brothers?"
I now know what the chemical brothers sound like (or what they sounded like 20 years ago, anyway), and I also belatedly know that the answer is "no, not really very much like the chemical brothers at all."
Been a long while since I listened to that album. At least, I think that's the Chemical Brothers album that I grew to enjoy. Does it have a nifty guest spot by Beth Orton, maybe the last track? A Denver coffee joint I would go to from time to time played that album occasionally. It wasn't like much else I was listening to, but I came around on it... began appreciating the nuance and subtleties of some of the more in-your-face tracks.
Could be, re Beth Orton no idea from a MP3 file with a song title. I am glad it has subtleties; I don't hate it but I'm not sure I'll stick around for them either.
Also enjoying this a lot. It is NYOP on Bandcamp - see the link I put here a few days ago.
@Lowlife - I listened to the McCartney album a few weeks ago when the Guardian was streaming it. Whilst I liked a few tracks, I decided not to download for a couple of reasons. In many cases I prefer the originals, and, although it is on emusic, it was an awful lot of credits! Having said that, it is useful to download a few tracks at the end of the month when I have 2 or 3 credits left, so I might get some of it. Good result for your team yesterday, by the way!
