Gold Yeller by Oil Boom, my gift from luddite. He describes it as "music ... along the lines of The Black Keys." I didn't see it at first, but re-listening in the car proved his point. Indeed, this is the kind of music I often forget that I need. "One-Time Used-To-Be" and "This Man's Girl" are strong tracks.
#21 from Jazzloft, If, Bwana - Breathing. "...a slightly more atmospheric turn from If, Bwana's previous releases -- rather than letting their odd sonic scatters stand sparsely in silence, the group pads them out with a fuller, more constant drone" (AllMusic)
Soundcloud streaming: Gold Panda - Half of Where You Live - "Nearly three years after the release of his debut album Lucky Shiner, Gold Panda returns with his second album Half Of Where You Live, to be released on Ghostly International and his own NOTOWN label (UK). The album is the product of a period spent touring the world multiple times around, absorbing influences and probing potential new avenues of creative exploration.
Half Of Where You Live represents a stylistic and thematic advancement from Gold Panda's previous work, expanding on the ideas he presented on 2012s Mountain/Financial District 7 and this Marchs Trust EP. It reflects its creator's nomadic existence you can see the influence of his travels in track titles like Brazil and "Enoshima," in the oriental textures of "My Father In Hong Kong 1961" and "We Work Nights," and in the sounds of "Junk City II," conceived as a hypothetical soundtrack to '90s anime and the films of controversial director Takashi Miike. . . . . Jason Davis' Second Time Around: proof of how compelling robust Bluegrass can be. Great takes on the sentimental I'll be Waiting For You and the tragic Darby's Castle. One of my favorites from 2013.
I would have said that Den Sorte Skole release that you found deserves to be on some lists.
- Absolutely, It's really an epic journey through time, space and genres, extraordinary skillfull assembled. But there is probably a problem with the copyright issue.
- An idea for MIG, perhaps ?
- A "nust check out" for fans of Dirty Projectors - Really excellent stuff ! Trevor Wilson & Vocal Ensemble All Material

Just saw on the TV news whilst at the hairdressers about the snow on the East Coast. Hope all are well and not suffering from it.

Thanks, luddite, nice little gift!

Noticed this on more than one of the best of 2013 lists. Good stuff.

Kind of a mix of Guthrie talking to a friend and singing. Worth checking out if you're a Woodie fan.

Thomas Matthie, aka Tx, aka Headphonaught, is doing a great job with his netlabel. Beautiful soundscapes with field recordings. NYOP
Nice set from the Old Man, but Rokia Traor
Got my attention, but are you referring to the Den Sorte Skole or the Trevor Wilson?
Craig
NP: still Nick Didkovsky's Doctor Nerve
Programmatic soundscapes, purportedly referencing ancient American cultures. Squelchy, squishy. NYOP.
ETA: good description is "deconstructed tribalism." Also, there's a clear relationship with older forms of electronic music.
- It does have some nice moments, but not a keeper. Thanks GP.

The track related to todays question in the Dacapo Christmas Quiz 2013

Another strong 2013 release. Space music.
