Streaming this 2007 album that I completely forgot was in my Amazon wishlist. My loss, as this is an incredibly good debut from a very talented artist who was a finalist for the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards back in 2006. She released a 2nd album a couple of years later, which I'll be listening to next:
An Italian friend has uploaded, on YouTube, a previously unseen part of a video of John Cage's Italian happening "Il Treno di John Cage" that he did with Walter Marchetti and Juan Hidalgo in '78. If you're not familiar with the original recordings (about 3 and a half hours), book, and video (about 72 minutes), you can check here.
The extra found footage is about 13 minutes long and, unfortunately, silent.
The story and link on the extra found footage is here (English: second half of the page).
s3p045 Ballerini (Postodellefragole): Circolari Per Paesaggio [2008-01-07]
"Alessio Ballerini, multimedia artist, uses a computer and other devices to create experimental, minimalist and multi-stratified sounds and film. He explores real and imaginary landscapes by using field recordings, guitar, piano and digital composition, so that the sound finds its beauty in the harmonic ambient substrate. He has been a member of the cinematographic group Postodellefragole since 2004. In 2010, he founded AIPS – Archivio Italiano Paesaggi Sonori together with Francesco Giannico. In 2013, always with Giannico he foundedOak, an art music label. He has collaborated and shared the stage with Alva Noto, Lawrence English, Oval, Retina, Enrico Coniglio, Senking, Erik Skodvin, Giuseppe Cordaro, Francesco Giannico, TU M’, Pietro Riparbelli…"
This is why it's pointless for me to have a yearly best-of list, as I don't get into some of the good albums until the beginning of the next year. Maybe if I started at the end of Q1...In any case, I really like this album, and think many others here would like it too
Comments
Free from Bandcamp and pretty good; krautrock elements; reminds me a bit of instrumental Yo La Tengo stuff...
Alva Noto - Xerrox vol.3
Aphex Twin aka: user48736353001 - Tracks 121 - 152
I love The Mountain Goats so much.
