Just been playing a playlist of a range of cover versions of Hendrix's Little Wing. A long while back I thought of doing a MiG article on Little Wing. Listening to these tracks is part of re-thinking that process to see if I still could do it.
@cafreema, sorry, I just enjoyed the new name. It has a nice ring. Kind of craggy.

I was listening to John Williams, Changes, again earlier, which has been helping me to remember some forgotten phases of my youth - hearing Hank Marvin and the Shadows (my mother liked them and so I ended up with some of their records when I was 12) play Cavatina the same year John Williams had a hit with it (1978) got me into John Williams and for a brief spell I listened to a lot of his classical guitar stuff. Today's small revelation is that I think what appealed to me in John Williams was the same as what appeals to me in folk like Frank Bretscheider and Alva Noto. I would describe it as punctiliar purity of tone. It always fascinates me when get some sense of how very different kinds of music might be connected (at least in my mind), especially when, like classical guitar and minimal techno they seem dissimilar. /endintrospectivemusing
@Greg, thanks for mentioning 'With the Dawn.' I listened to one track from it on her website, but appparently I can't find anywhere else to listen to more of the album. It is only offered as a very expensive import CD here in the US so far - I think I came across some reference to it being released in the US this week. I hope so, because the one track I heard from it is fantastic. In the meantime, I'm listening to this 2012 release.

They've put out a bunch of really good albums since this one, but I still think this is my favorite.
