  • Just spent most of a 2-hour drive listening to Billie Holiday and I think for the first time started to hear what all the fuss was about.

  • Fleetwood Mac - Tusk

Good, although I think I like the previous one better.  The cover photo captures something of Tootie's  personality, which can be a bit crusty !

    Bach: Concerti a Violino Certato (BWV 1041, 1042, 1052 & 1056)
(which is disc 2 of Bach & Sons)
    (and is very good).
  • There's been some resurgence of interest in Harry Bertoia lately -
probably due to this summer's release of some of his recordings
and, I think, an attempt by his estate to release practically everything
in some kind of fancy form (I'm being lazy on the details because I'm
busy cleaning house now), but it gives me some reason to pull out the
unwrapped copies of his LPs as a soundtrack to pushing the "Hoover."

    The Bento boys:

    - in post-future-jazz / nu-jazz mood . . . Very nice !

    - Rec'd by someone at some point . . . possibly Rostasi:

Reading an article recently that reminded me of the sounds of Antarctic ice and its environs.

Coupled that with a recent request for some audio on the subject of water and so I started
experimenting with the sounds of glaciers by isolating certain frequencies that they emit
while having them "sit" on a bed of quiet water sound.

    Thanks Rostasi . . . An excellent piece !

A lot of great Cantaloupe release via drip.fm, but the Icebreaker albums are some of my faves.

    Original Album Series

Just bought this boxed set of albums mainly from the 1980s. Currently playing the first from 1979. If you don't know Rickie Lee Jones, this one is a good place to start. Recommended for a listen if you are able to do so to one or two here, such as Kez and Amc2

As it happens, I just added that 1st R.L.J. CD to an Amazon order for 5 bucks (with Auto-Rip).  I saw Rickie a couple years ago, she is funny and puts on a great show.  What a wonder that album was, back in the day...There are not many pop songs that everbody loves like "Chuck E's in Love."   I always associate this with the "John Cougar" album, which came out around the same time...A couple of fresh, new, hard-to-classify voices.

Meanwhile...I think this was one of the first albums I bought at eMu

  • Pirates

@Doofy - I didn't realise RLJ was still playing. I saw her in the early 80s soon after Pirates was released. I hadn't heard of her at that point and a friend persuaded me and a couple of other friends to go  to see her play. I was convinced and bought the first two LPs.

Just saw your comment now - thanks!
I usually don't mention the sound sources of my works,
but the circumstances were what they were and so...
The name of the piece, BTW, is Chveang Kau’k.
