Clearing out Black Saint/Soul Note releases on my list before the change. This is part of a nifty little run of 80s albums teaming up Art Farmer with Clifford Jordan...One of my favorite things when lions like Jordan decide to play nice. Fred Hersch on piano, back in 1984
Seeing a John Coltrane video that Doofy has posted made me search out some John Coltrane, starting with one of my favourites - Blue Trane

Clearing out Black Saint/Soul Note releases on my list before the change
As I have no Art Farmer I followed the link to emusic, liked the sample, then investigated the beta site to download. Not there, or any other albums on Soul Note. 391 albums on the old site, none on the beta site. Um..... I hope they are still to come.
Debut album from EX EYE, the instrumental, post-everything quartet led
by renowned saxophonist Colin Stetson and featuring the otherworldly
drumming of Greg Fox. EX EYE seamlessly weave between precise, clockwork
intricacy and aggressive, ecstatic abandon while taking the listener on
a cathartic, thrilling journey to total transcendence. Recorded live at
EX EYE member Shahzad Ismaily's Figure 8 Studios in Brooklyn, NY
(Blonde Redhead, Damien Rice, Okkervil River, Son Lux, Pussy Riot), the
self-titled debut showcases a band that is without question the sum of
its parts, as each player contributes not only their own particular
technical prowess and expertise but also their signature compositional
character. EX EYE make incredibly complex yet beautifully dramatic and
emotive music which eclipses usual expectation of style or genre and is
sure to be talked about for many years to come. - releases June 23, 2017 on Relapse
- This is Mr. Stetson letting it all out . . . Brilliant !
@Lowlife, Just Music is present on the beta site with 85 albums, 2 of them marked 2017... I am wondering about new releases generally, whether there will be a flurry of them once beta is done, because some stuff should be appearing that was on the old site.
Just wanted to post this, since I have managed to stir up some Art Farmer interest. There were a couple of versions of the Jazztet over the years, all of the music is great. Benny Golson is still out there playing these tunes, believe it or not.
'Killer Joe' is my cellphone ringtone, starting from the rimshot:
Can anyone join this party? Oops looks like I just did!!
Serious fun.
Oh and Killer Joe, had no idea that I knew the tune with it's great melody and spoken intro... I probably first heard it on Doug Schulkind's WFMU show at a guess.
I have a bunch of Jazztet albums but still need to get to know them better. (I am currently striving to acquire less new music and delete some of the less needed stuff so that some "get to know it better" can happen with various chunks of my existing collection).

Here is hoping that the Just Music label will have its new releases on the new site

Following Doofy on Art Farmer above with this that I got a while back, I think on a Doofy rec.
