From January 2009 through January 2010, Marcus kept a blog called Dust Breeding to document the results of his goal to complete one creative project a day for 365 days. These projects included photographs, field recordings, design, illustration, sewing, videos, DIY electronics experiments and music. He reached his goal of one full year of daily entries and has continued to add entries over the last few years, though less frequently.
Each piece on Collected Dust first appeared in its original form on Dust Breeding. After being selected for this collection by M. Ostermeier, each piece was updated and refined further by Marcus. The patient, relflective, and peaceful style found on Collected Dust's seven tracks inhabits a space somewhere near that of his debut CD for 12k, Monocoastal, which landed on many best-of-2010 lists, and his recent In a Place of Such Graceful Shapes collaboration with Taylor Deupree, who mastered this recording.
A label, a brand, a moving force with a life of its own that is larger
than life. Founded at the close of the last century, Ropeadope has taken
the path never traveled, always following the music where it wants to
go. From historically significant records with celebrity names to
completely unknown artists, Ropeadope has crossed boundaries and defied
music business logic to create a truly unique company that continues to
release great records.
VERY nice jazz/rock fusion from a label/artist unknown to me . . .
@rostasi I'll be submitting an interview with Tamar Osborn aka Collocutor this weekend. It should show up on The Bandcamp Daily sometime around the release date of her excellent new recording.
Just finished:
Colin Vallon - "Danse"
On ECM natch. Beautiful. Stronger than Le Vent (which was okay), arguably better than Rruga.
NP:
Rebecca Martin & Guillermo Klein - "The Upstate Project"
OMFG this is beautiful. Strong folk sound but Klein's Argentina via NYC thing comes through clear. Their voices are birds-of-a-feather. Comes out in April on Sunnyside. Gonna see if I can't snag an interview for Bandcamp Daily.

Indonesian jazz fusion outfit simakDialog
were formed in Jakarta in 1993 by Riza Arshad, a mainly self-taught
keyboardist skilled in a variety of styles including jazz, prog rock,
and global traditional musics, along with drummer/percussionist Arie
Ayunir and electric bassist Indro Hardjodikoro. Tohpati Ario Hutomo, a
classical and jazz guitarist, also joined simakDialog that year --
transforming the group from a trio to a quartet -- and like Arshad
became a key member of the ensemble over the next two decades. While the
influences of such jazz and fusion pioneers as Miles Davis, Pat
Metheny, and Weather Report can be readily discerned in the music of
simakDialog, the group's unique stylistic meld also draws from
Indonesian gamelan music, and the Sundanese kendang, a two-headed drum
used in gamelan ensembles, is a key component of simakDialog's sound. . . .
