Hmm looks like I got that email four times and in one of them the recommendations for little old unique me happen - by pure chance - to be identical to those for @Brighternow Now either there's some fishy marketing going on - or your worst fears are confirmed and BN&DJH are one and the same!
Just checked to see what is happening, and listening to Slow Dancing Society on Spotify checked to see if any available. Hidden Shoal is all but 2 releases gone, the sad decline of E Music seems to be getting worse.
Good god moneys still makes me laugh. Somehow they discovered that at my day job, and every now and then some smartass will slip that word into a meeting and then pause in silence, just waiting for me to lose it. Since I work with the accounting department, there's all kinds of dangers.
I always assumed these 'albums' were coming from people picking up a few pennies from search term playlists, but what if it were Spotify themselves? Indeed, why should they not produce their own content, on which they don't have to pay royalties. That's exactly what Netflix is doing...
Just back from 2 1/2 weeks in Japan. It made me realise who buys all those Jazz for Restaurant and Jazz for Elevator albums etc - as nearly every restaurant we went into was playing one, and in many elevators too.
That is true GP - some were playing jazz! As anyone who has been to Japan will know it would not be a surprise to see built in speakers in some toilets.....
How about audio-books for the urinal? I've only come across this a couple of times but I found Alice in Wonderland and Wind in the Willows to be suitably creepy in that context. Oh and there's the Shoreditch bar which has a pair of Mick Jagger lips around the urinal. The best though is a West Glasgow bar where you are encouraged to piss on the names of landowners responsible for the clearances.

You see, when we try to make this stuff up we come off as amateurs.
I see now everything on Erased Tapes is showing unavailable. So is everything on The Masters of Jazz! label. And everything on 1201 music. The Mirare label has also disappeared, and Harmonia Mundi seems to be gone for good. I keep finding things in my wishlist (compiled SINCE the revamping of the site) on labels that have vanished.
ETA, the following are unavialble right now:
Everything on:
Erased Tapes
The Masters of Jazz!
1201 Recordings
Pao Records
ACT Music
Red Records
Umor-Rex
Also several but not all albums on :

(That's just from one page of my wishlist) I do remember something like this happening once before and most stuff returned. We'll see. The samples still play, so the content is still there.
I've just been going through a wish list from June/July this year, again after the revamp, having bought a booster a few days ago to help clear my wish lists. Getting on for half are no longer available. Interestingly although ACT is on GPs list it is still available here. I'd better download those from that label quickly!
Since cancelling not missed it too much, starting to listen to my back catalogue more although getting only the albums I really want. Band camp and Spotify for research. Seems so much is missing from it know, checked back the other day and about 60% of what I would get was not there. Its a shame as the business model could be so good, its just been so badly handled and the feedback from the customer support is awful. This must be due to the lack of staff but if you are a customer facing company once this has gone your time to operate and your USP has gone

Everything you need to know about eMusic in October, plus picks for you!

Y'know what? eMusic should pay me to write a weekly jazz recommendations column for them.

I think I'll recommend that directly to emusic on their most viable message board:
Please give Dave moneys.

And yes, we need that BitW review - I for one have no idea which Saxy Jazz for Relax collection I should choose.

It has been shared quite some times . . .
Not jazz and not for sedate ears . . .
