"The Poetics of Time-Space" is an original work of sound and music
created for the Music Room at the Musée d'ethnographie in Geneva, making
use of extracted samples from the AIMP (les
archives internationales de musique populaire). This piece challenges
the listener to engage with the archive un-ethnographically, placing the
focus on the sonic qualities of the analog technology used to capture
and preserve these recordings, the interstitial moments before and after
songs are sung, and the often humorous collage of instrumental and
vocal events coming together across impossible distances of time and
space.
I bought the CD yesterday for 1p more than downloading from Amazon, others places have the download for even more. No choice really, far better quality on the CD than a mp3. This is a blues orientated album, some great blues artists of the recent past playing on it including Jeff Beck and Paul Jones.
"Bosaina is a Syrian/Egyptian singer, songwriter & producer known for
her work in the Kairo Is Koming Collective as well as her involvement
in music-space-turned-club-night VENT.
Her autobiographical work takes on a magical insular quality through
field recordings and sentimentally driven compositions that unfold in
stolen time. On both EPs presented here, her love affair with cinema,
interrupted by decaying urban life (New York April-July 2013) and
literature (Two Names Upon The Shore) serve as the focal points for her
intimate productions; fragmented and wistful soundscapes that combine
her affection for the piano with ambient textures from seashore to life
underground."
