Some of my last vinyl purchases in the 80's were Diamond Life,
Promise and 2 other 12" singles because I couldn't get enough.
Turns out I paid $7.99 for 2 tracks on Hang On To Your Love (12") &
$9.99 for 3 tracks on Smooth Operator ‎(12") as they still have price
tags from Kelly's on them. Some things you just have to have.
I'm much more patient now, I think.

Thanks for the reminder. First I played the short video where she performed at Kings Place with shots of Kings Cross station and the massively gentrified area around it so different from when my dentist was on the sleazy street between the station and the venue full of drunks and addicts. After that I went over to CanLand.org where BOAC have video footage in archives from previous marathons. A lot of really interesting stuff very recommended.

  • A break from those archives because its sunny. Wonderful upbeat music that seems all the more incredible for being so joyful during the middle of the Angolan civil war. Released on the Buda label as one of several spin-offs from the acclaimed Ethiopiques series. Amazon tells me that I bought the cd from them 1/9/2009 and wonders if I want to buy it again? Nice try lads!
  • Nice memeories of Kings Cross, used to go to Bagley's Warehouse parties, which were wild, Water Rats for gigs, No Funk on a Saturday club. Used to be a late night train about 2am, we called it the drunk's express which got us up to North London. Its all cleaned up now, very nice but not much spirit.

I remember Water Rats but never went for a gig. I've heard of Bagley's but it would have been after when I lived in Islington (86-88). I agree its a bit soulless now but if you poke around you can do a mini craft beer pub crawl from Angel to Kings Place (same building as The Guardian offices amusingly enough) and arrive suitably refreshed for BOAC or whoever is playing. Kings Place sucker you in with cheap tickets and you then spend 3 x the value in the bar / restaurant if you aren't careful.

False Prophet A Social Media Post from Bob Dylan Heralds His

New from Bob Dylan...apocalyptic blues. Rolling Stone says "Dylan growls over a slinky striptease-blues groove, powered by a downright filthy fuzz-guitar riff."

  • I know most of the pubs round there, caught out once at Kings Place for a very expensive  bottle of wine

£40 - £60 at a guess. 2 x double shots and two small beers is normally my sin. Apart from the cheesy photo what's the music like?

Well, this is another artist I might not have come across without help from @Brighternow. I'm always interested in hearing how folks use their voice in so many interesting & different ways. (I was told to lip-sync in elementary school at concerts, apparently my voice stood out too much and supposedly distracted all the other kids. If only they could hear through my ears) At any rate, I've got a soft spot for unique vocalizers. I enjoyed the samples and thought I'd add another. Thanks!
