Three discs worth of the Arkestra in not at all bad fidelity considering this show hasn't had an official release. Recorded at a one off gig just prior to Ra's first visit to Egypt.
And before and after that;
As ever I'm late to the party. Just discovering Itaru Oki who passed away last August. The guy not only plays some mean adventurous trumpet he built them too, sometimes with multiple bells. Otomo Yoshihide is in devastating form on a very close miked percussive guitar. 64 minutes of live dialogue.
Ps - I was looking forward to hearing this and I thought it was terrific. Reminded me that although I've replaced a lot of the albums on the broken hard-drive, I still haven't replaced Phil Minton + Audrey Chen - By The Stream, which was also terrific.
When Ubu Roi was published in 1896 by Editions du Mercure de France, the
original text mentionned the existence of an orchestra imagined by
Alfred Jarry to accompany the play. Whether they are flageolets, green
oliphants, cervelas, blowtorches or other "wind" instruments, the
thematic relationships of this enigmatic orchestra with the character of
Ubu seem obvious. However, when a few months later, Jarry created the
play at the Théâtre de l'Oeuvre, he had neither the time nor the means
to make this orchestra a reality. Besides, has he ever had a serious
idea of it? Claude Terrasse, composer and friend of Jarry, writes for
Ubu Roi some pieces for piano with four hands. However, it seems that
this "imaginary" orchestra had never been created.
Through a synthetic adaptation of texts of Ubu Roi, Ubu sur la butte,
and d'Ubu Cocu, Guigou Chenevier and Denis Bernet-Rollande gave life to
this "imaginary" orchestra.
French drummer. Best-known as the original drummer in Etron Fou
Leloublan, he has proliferated in many French and international bands in
the "Rock In Opposition" and left-field rock and fusion genres.
- Guigou Chenevier's Rumors of the City album is this weekend's Cuneiform five album.
BABEXO 2015 Last Days Of Youth Just a reminder that the entire catalogue from Entertainment Systems (16 albums) is still on sale for $1.05 US. I've already enjoyed many of the albums I picked up. I think this is the first album I've seen described as Vaporwave. As if describing music isn't already complicated enough.
@confused , run a search here on emusers for vaporwave and you’ll find a bunch more. I think @amclark2 introduced some of us to the genre.
Thanks, 2 pages to explore. I quite enjoyed that BABEXO and I believe I noticed the word free in one of those posts, so I'm happy to check out a few more.
