I was twenty-two, just discovered this album, bought my own copy literally on the way out of town, hitting the road on my move from Chicago to Colorado. The title-track playing as I left Kansas behind and headed toward a Colorado mountain pass was imagery I knew would never leave me or stop resonating... and it never did.
I don't think I anticipated how much I would still enjoy this album nearly thirty years later, nor how many other recordings of Whitley's I'd treasure. Been listening to his music a lot lately. Still stings that he's no longer with us, no longer making music.
Back again after a couple of month's absence. I had a knee repacement operation in early February and sitting at my computer for long has been (still can be!) painful, so I din't use it much, but I did listen to a lot of music on my headhones. Currently playing:
(You can actually download this whole album for free on Soundcloud if you feel a need for a noodly, vaguely proggy, vaguely Vangelis-like, and somewhat uneven intstrumental keyboard album.)

Good luck with the knee I'm 8 months down the line and about 85% recovered. Not too certain I want the other one done now I've moved to the Islands.
@Germanprof I couldn't agree more about the Giant Sky s/t album.
It is a great album and made it to No. 3 in ProgArchives list for 2021.
It led me to try Soup (from whence Giant Sky comes) for the first time and really like their album "Remedies".
I tried Soup a while back, and plan to try again, because when I listened a couple of times to Remedies and the one that came after it I kind of liked them but they did not quite hit home for me. It felt like there was something there but I was not really hearing it yet. I also remember thinking that the album art for Remedies really does not match the feel of the album.

Loved the Cairn album and this is just as good. A mixture of jazz/folk with a little bit of Keith Jarrett thrown in as well.
