  • Yesterday things went really well, so I grabbed a bunch of albums that weren't downloading before. Luck ran out at night, but I was able to get a dozen albums or so. Hopefully it comes back in the same shape because even after 130 d/ls or so I still have like 200 credits.
  • Up again. Looks like they have added some new pop stuff to the front page. I just think somebody needs to tell Pitbull that, eventually, somebody has to Stop The Party.
  • Checking in to report some exciting new (old) stuff I found this morning:

There's some new Mumford & Sons -- alas, not the new album "Babel," which is what I've been hoping for (although the single "I Will Wait" showed up-- but that one's also free at amazon.com.)

Four Bob Dylan albums-- including the new one, Tempest, which is great, IMHO-- also Love and Theft, Highway 61 Revisited, and Desire.

Some old (and new) Springsteen albums, too.

(The other Universal release I wish they would post is Avett Brothers / The Carpenter, and they got 2 other Avett albums this morning, but no dice yet on the newest...)

Still poking around to see what else is new-- hope someone finds these useful. If you see something new/exciting, please share!

    Matthew
  • Good eye, matthewsalibi.

The new Avett is being distributed on UMG, which hasn't been update, but the others are Sony.

Highway 61 is short two songs, I think.

There's some Elvis Costello and the Attraction, notably This Year's Model.
  • Oh oh oh. When you pointed out those were Sony, I looked for the new Leonard Cohen album, which is also there-- and I think it's really great, would recommend it highly to any fans of his who have not heard it.

Also, I know it's cheesy, but pretty excited that the songs from the show "Nashville" have shown up-- you can find them by searching "Nashville Cast," and if you're curious/skeptical, I would recommend "If I Didn't Know Better" and "Fade Into You" as two of the standouts.
  • Oh snap. Thanks a ton matthewsalibi (and, of course, dddanmar and team). Hopefully it's all running smoothly tonight when I get home. Guess I'll finally break down and get Mumford and Sons...
  • @BT - It's missing the last track, "Desolation Row", which is over 10 minutes. And for some reason they're also missing the title track. Neither are album only on Amazon.

    Paul Simon s/t, Rhythm/Saints, 2 comps.

Thanks for Cohen: my wife has been looking forward to it.

    ETA: The Vaccines, Broken Bells
  • The new Alicia Keys, as well as The Diary. The new Passion Pit. Both Adele albums. Excuse me for a few minutes...

Return to Forever, without the album only tracks
  • Holmes Brothers "Soul Street". Great album.
  • My goodness yesterday was a rash of download-now. Had that nervous Mtrak feeling of soon-to-be-gone-get-your-credits-used-up. Twelve albums. Ah. Thanks Thom for that list. I hadn't even thought to look for Souldive and Stevie Wonder albums - both of my please-list for a couple years.

Just got that Holmes Brother as well. I'm back to enjoying ECM's back catalog. Been surprised by the sitar jazz that exists.

That new Cohen album is breathtaking. I've not heard such gracious, honest end-of-life-coming poetry in a long time. You do need to like Cohen though. Musically not a whole lot happening.

Try Bill Fay's Life is People.
  • Thank you matthewsalibi! I fist heard a track of the Leonard Cohen album in a coffee shop in an airport, and thought even through the hubbub "have to listen to that". Could of tracks in I'm hugely impressed.
  • I'm getting "media not found" when I try to download any track on Love and Theft, even though it streams OK.

    Same here.
  • "Media not found" for Mumford and Sons, too. Somebody's trying to tell me something...
  • I vaguely remember what sleep was like... it's that time you can close your eyes and relax right?
So long ago, just don't remember the finer details...

re: media not found, pushed them back to the content team, will wait for the outcome..
  • Is it the job or the boy?

Could you tell us if we should expect more scheduled maintenance in the next weeks as catalog updates are made.
  • @Doofy: Well, I knew you were trouble.

Work sadly ;) The boy is as peaceful as he always has been.

The outages from the weekend were all unplanned - the normal process of updating the catalogue does not affect your ability to continue using the site.

We have no major pieces that require any outages to be planned in the coming months.
{edit} and pitbull loves to party... all day.. and night... and day...

{edit again} since a whole heap of tracks went live today, thought I'd share what I'm using my download credits for the next few weeks on (have only checked these songs are available on AU, they may not show for US users):

    -The Angels
    -Santana
    -deadmau5
    -Dave Matthews Band
-DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince (Just based on pure brilliance)
    -Jeff Buckley
-Foo Fighters - Skin and Bones
    -Billy Joel
    -Santana
  • @dddanmar: could you tell the content monkeys that tracks by the Jam (All Mod Cons and Settings Sons albums) aren't downloading.

Three other Foo Fighters are available, including Wasting Light.
  • I tried this morning to download the Foo Fighters "Wasting Light" and it streams fine but I get an error message (media not found) when I try to DL.
  • No problem DL'ing an album that is not among those newly added, btw.

    Specifically,

    Wrong thread!
  • I did find a bunch of prime Buzzcocks, including the "Time's Up" quasi-bootleg and deluxe editions of their first three albums. I have the original releases but each new one has a bonus disc of demos and live tracks. Got the extras for Another Music In A Different Kitchen today before I ran out of credits.
  • A lot of the new releases are working. Of the ones I mentioned I grabbed the latest Alicia Keys, Adele, and Bob Dylan (minus the one 10+ minute track).

The Rounder Records thing is just plain weird. I had tried to download Delta Spirit's latest a couple times and it kept failing. After the weekend outage it started working and I got all but one track. Now it seems to be not working again and I can't get that one track. This has happened with other releases of theirs.

The nice thing about the "Media not found" error is that you don't lose a download!

Also, one last question - can anyone find the first track off Folk Songs by Haden, Garbarek and Gismonti? The other 5 tracks are under Egberto, but I can't freakin' find "Folk Song".
  • Rounder: if there are two tiles for each album track, the first probably works. If it's an older album, and there is no second tile, be aware. If it's newer (last two years) it probably works. No promises.
