Time to get serious about this Fania thing: 10 Essential Fania Albums on about.com. Just got 'Siembra,' already have most of the Fania All-Stars stuff.
He doesn't mention this one, but I've had it for a while, and my one-word review is: Yow.
ETA, scratch that, it's not on Fania! However, it is at Guv, and I stand by my review.
@dddanmar, I've run into an issue again that I noted once before with the album Officium. This time it's albums by Terje Rypdal.
The albums "Blue" and "The Singles Collection" by Terje Rypdal on the ECM label (to be precise, according to AMazon, "ECM Records GmbH under exclusive license to Universal Music Classics & Jazz - a division of Universal Music GmbH") are available. The album "Chaser" by Terje Rypdal on the ECM label ("ECM Records GmbH under exclusive license to Universal Music Classics & Jazz - a division of Universal Music GmbH") does not show under a search for Terje Rypdal, but it does show up in the album results if you search for it by album title. But if I click on that album in the search list, I just get taken to the Guvera home page.
I mention this because last time you thought bit might be about availability in Australia versus the US. Given that in this case it's clearly same artist, exactly the same label, roughly the same vintage, I am wondering if that is not the case and you do have a bug/data issue here.
Back up again, bit of emergency database repairs, nothing was lost.
GP: I will take a look - however the prime example is the Foo Fighters I mentioned earlier - here in Australia I can see only Skin and Bones in my searches, though as Muggsy mentioned, all of the albums are available in the US.
But can you see albums in your searches that then loop you to the home page when you click on them? Not being able to see the albums would be another thing.
I get the exact same response you do when I log in via the US. From what I can see the items should be available. I've passed it on to one of the developers, he is actually taking a look now as they are making some changes for search in the next few days and he is going to find out what is going on.
@thom - You recently posted The Weird and Wonderful World of Glitch in this discussion. I was sampling some tracks and plan to download, but when I play the first track it shows it over 5 hours long! Is that correct, do you know?
Ddanmar, I've also found several tracks on the Smashing Pumpkins "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" that cut off about halfway through when streaming. I haven't tried to download any of them for that reason.
Then there's this, which looks awesome. Might be the kind of thing where you really want the liner notes, though.
On this, the first release on Frank Fairfield s Tompkins Square imprint, Pawn Records, Fairfield
presents an exciting collection of reissued recordings from his personal 78 rpm record collection.
It provides a broad view of the Gramophone era , specifically concerning the recording of vernacular
music from around the world: from Atlanta, Georgia to Kisumu, Kenya; from the 10s to the 60s.
The records have been beautifully transferred by the highly respected record collector and producer
Michael Kieffer.
There are always rules to how often you can get credits on ads, a whole heap of equations in the back end. While a lot of ads are daily, some work off those equations. If you can find a way to get the credits to work, then you are meant to be able to get them.
A few new campaigns will be starting in the coming month that will give even more. If you do some searching, there has been an AWESOME response to the mobile application in AUS, and where there is public interest, there are advertisers willing to connect more and more. {edit} also you might notice some of the error messages have changed to be more informative, vs 'media not found'. It should tell you if we are not allowed to give it streaming, but you are allowed to download, and vice versa.
OK, I didn't realize that some tracks are only available for streaming but not to download. The new Foo Fighters album appears to be in that category. Thanks for the explanation.
Looks like the 3-credit facebook link has disappeared. Five credits a day is still nothing to sneeze at, but I will hope for additional advertisers in the next few weeks. Yes, I'm a greedy bastard when free music is involved.
@dddan - Thanks for the update. Are those releases going to stay streaming-only, or is it a time release thing? No worries if you don't know or can't tell us - I realize you work for Guvera, not emusers ;-).
Usually I get the "network error" issue of too many family members are using our WiFi and the download gets too slow. But was downloading an album just now, with noone else online and nothing else using the internet, and downloading from Guvera suddenly slowed to a crawl. Everything else is running at normal speeds, and streaming is fine from Guvera, but I lost two credits trying to get downloads to go. Odd that only downloading would be at a crawl and everything else fast. Hopefully it will be feeling happier in the morning.
It did make me think that one thing I appreciate at emusic is that there are some free albums, and you can use them to test if downloading is working without using credit. It would be handy if Guvera had at least one track on the site somewhere that was just free as in public domain - even if it's the office staff singing Waltzing Matilda or something - so that it's possible to check if download issues have resolved without spending credits to test things.

For you Dr L. Subramaniam fans !
@Rudie - that track is 56 minutes long. It's a mix of the rest of the tracks.
Doofy; echoing the thanks for that Fania list.
