  • Yeah, we actually had the album too and I agree there wasn't anything else on it remotely close. My wife unfortunately gave the album away before we had much music on our computer, so we've been without that song lo these many years.

  • Well I bought the Joshua James and Sugar Billy based on your recs sound unheard -- moved recently and still waiting for an Internet connection at home. Can log in and buy with my iPhone but not listen so I did. The James was a buck eighty and the other free (and I bought a heap of credit in the last 50% off sale) so no great risk but I like doing that.

There's actually a quirk with Amie Street's site...
    Yes I've noticed that two.
A very usefull workaround. - Thank you Frogkopf.

    edit:
Using this I found a classic album from the good old hippie days:
Amboy Dukes featuring Ted Nugent - Journey To The Center Of The Mind
    -and cheap too.

A good comp by Rick Wade - Presents Harmonie Park is still free. Sounds like disco on steroids.

AMG gives it 4 1/2 stars.

Voyage Direct by Tom Trago is also free.

Lights Out Zoltar! by Gemma Ray. Currently $2.40

One of those albums that is getting a lot of buzz. Has that Lee Hazzlewood/Nancy Sinatra cinematic 60s pop vibe, but darker.

    Lookbook

Minnesota dance/rock. They've been compared to Solid Gold (if you know them, if not you should). While I don't think they are in that league they are pretty good.

  • Good catch.

I was actually looking for their album about 2-3 weeks ago after hearing them on an in studio on the Current.
  • Yeah, The Current has been liking them recently. I certainly enjoyed the album, and see some serious potential there.

    Craig
  • Thanks frogkopf for the link. Getting a 100 per page is definitely an improvement. You guys impress me with the stuff you know about and find.
  • Big Band music still free

also got the reggae comp, thanks.

Marvin Gaye - Greatest Hits Live
edit: There's some distortion on this one. It's ok for a free album, but listen to the previews before you drop any coins.
  • OK now do I get some street cred

http://amiestreet.com/music/bobby-vee-2/just-today/ - this sounds pretty good so far
edit: "Cry Myself to Sleep" - good stuff
  • I've said before that the way music is promoted, they could move a CD full of air conditioner noise, but I didn't expect them to actually do it. Disclosure: They don't say it's air conditioner noise.

If you're really in the market for this stuff I've got several recordings of noise. I don't recommend the jackhammer (4 MB) one for sleeping, but you could make a hell of a ringtone. For maximum realism you could set the phone to vibrate as well.
  • JUJ, I just downloaded your REC'd track, so you'd get some street cred.

A day early, You are the One I Pick, by Felix. Me likey.
  • This isn't really my cup of tea and I'm not familiar with this artist but the price seems decent (99 cents for 11 tracks) given that a couple of his studio albums are going for 60-70 cents a track:

    Ernie Halter - Live
  • Amidst the onslaught of MBop comps and the like, James McMurtry Live in Europe turned up today, 22 cents a track at the moment. I got it in the first minute at 15 cents, and it is rising fast.
  • @frogkopf

Today is going to be the day you become #1 in street cred, huh? Congratulations, in advance.

    ,Kenny
  • JUJ, I just downloaded your REC'd track, so you'd get some street cred.

    Thanks Daytripper

Maybe I can get some respect now
  • Thanks DT, but I don't know if I will pass him up. There might not be anything good drop tonight. Besides, I'm kind of afraid of dogs.

Right now my street cred is 36666, and it looks rather cool and ominous right under my tomato from hell pic. I wish I could freeze it there.
  • Just REC everything and you'll get there. There're always a few releases worth RECing. Efterklang & The Danish National Chamber Orchestra is out tonight (they're connected to that whole Scandanavian Gold crew). King Khan. The NCIS Soundtrack. There's some stuff... but you're right, it's probably going to be a light night. That said, Amie can always surprise you.
  • That new Drivn N Cryin album that just dropped on Amie St. has some kick-arse moments and is sitting at less than 35 cents per track...

Is it just me or was there a price drop on White Denim - Fits?

I bought this when it first dropped and I just noticed now that the price shows as $6.87 with no prices listed for any of the tracks on disc 2. I seem to remember the total price being in the $10.50 range a week or two ago.

edit: Apparently the tracks from disc 2 have now become 'album only' and are no longer individually priced.

try this for free: Alvin Band, Mantis Preying. Reminds me a bit of a certain conglomerate of fauna. it got lost in the big dump over the weekend but it sounds pretty good, and even powellaw's not a fan yet! I would rec it if I had any rec's, but then I also rec'd TKW Band so...
  • "A certain conglomerate of fauna".....I'm drawing a blank. Little help?

luddite, thanks for pointing out the change in White Denim. I was disappointed I didn't get that when it was cheaper, so this allowed me to bite the bullet.

    Craig
  • well... there's a band that almost everything in the past three years has been compared to (to the point where I didn't want to make the comparison out loud), its initials are AC, its name contains a synonim of fauna and a synonim of conglomerate...
