Really interesting Freddie entry from 1966 - Several different lineups, including one with Herbie Hancock threatening to tip things over the edge from hard bop to free jazz. Had to buy one long track at Amazon, the rest at Guvera.
elwood - What house on Gu would you most recommend? I enjoy it from time to time, but haven't really delved into it (I keep meaning to read Simon Reynolds' book about British rave culture).
@thom, loving it. The mix is much more club orientated and not in the vein of Dimitri's usual cocktail kitsch. It's big and soulful, Defected definitely curates that sound, so it has that blissful late 90's early 00's sweetness to it.
@craig, I did some basic searching on Gu but was largely coming up empty handed. But if you're inclined track down Masters At Work, DJ Gregory, Kenny Dope (one half of Masters at Work), and Derrik Carter. I'd also strongly recommend Derrik May's work as Rhythim is Rhythim, Strings of Life is seminal.
Thanks, elwood! Would you recommend the compilation Henry Street Music: The Story So Far 1993-1999? It has some Kenny Dope among the 40 tracks on it. (Number of tracks is no issue for me as I tend to sit around 200 DL at Guvera at all times.)
