Re Wichita after almost twice through:
The long track I like.
My favorite track is Ozark, which sparkles with joy.
I like September 15.
It's For You....well, I don't hate it. I like bits of it. Does that make me a semi-mudgeon?
Estupenda Graca is OK.
I can see parts of the album growing on me. Don't be sad, 'cos three out of five ain't bad.
OK, I think I am ready to pick my album of the year for 2011. Keep coming back to this one, enjoying and hearing new things. Of course it features a couple of my favorite players, Miguel Zenon and Stefon Harris. I also think it is the material and selection - Of course there are so many great Stevie songs to choose from, and they generally went for less-obvious choices. And then these songs are new to jazz, and haven't been endlessly recorded the way so many "standards" have. Hope to see them sometime this year, either on the road or in their new jazz palace in SF!
- "Chromatic Dream is a London based electronic musician, composer and producer currently living in China. Running in the Fog (already featured here with Know When To Run) is the performing moniker of Amanda Harper. She is a composer, songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist from San Francisco, CA. The two have been steadily pushing and inspiring each other over the last year via gmail and soundcloud to create their EP together, Tethered to the Sun."
I don't think I ever would have guessed after her first album (which I thoroughly enjoyed) that Thao would have such... is "staying power" the term I'm looking for? I still revisit her first two albums frequently as well as her collaboration with Mirah.
Clinical Archives: "Post Human Era is the work of brothers Daniel and Michael Finfer.
Artists love to say their music has a mes sage, but what hap pens when that mes sage is the Sin gu lar ity is Near? Post Human Era cre ates albums that explore experimental sounds and ideas, while still pos sess ing enough pop-music chops to make them acces si ble.
'Help, I Invented The Internet' is the result of work spanning the last three years, and their first formal release since 2009's 'To Build A Fire'."

Eta; Yeah - what Thom said!
Arc!
Not sure why I've fallen for this so long after its hype expiration date, but I love it. I blame Portlandia.
