(I'll skip the huge cover art here, see free stuff thread). Thanks, Bad Thoughts, for finding this. Nice (though not entirely remarkable) so far. And thanks for the other ambient links above. I need a way of bookmarking posts on this board - am playing with delicious bookmarks of the target pages at the moment, following someone's advice on another thread (was that here?).
@greg, But maybe she would like Roots of Chicha even better. You know how it is with teenagers today, they can't get enough of those psychedelic cumbias.
This album has the best song titles: "You Drink a Lot of Coffee for a Teenager", "A Lot of People Tell Me I Have a Fake British Accent", "Let's Face it Pal, You Didn't Need That Eye Surgery", etc.
What am I listening to? A section from Diego Minciachi's Der Dom on youtube. I presume it's about Cologne's Cathedral (I can't think of any other that is universally described as simply as Der Dom). Recommended for the adventurous.
@ Craig I like the song titles on this. Not so keen on the actual music, but "After you hear this you are older", "I can't afford mastering", and "Kitchens are best for making sound effects" among others are nice titles. Maybe we need a thread for inspired song titles.
This album has the dubious distinction of being the only album that I have mistakenly purchased twice on emusic. It got reissued on a new label with new cover art (then the old on got pulled) and I rashly hit download album before comparing the track listing. [/blush] Not sure it is worth buying twice, but I think it was worth buying once. Nice laid back electronica.

The better of the two I think. Nighworker is a very nice track - almost a bit of the Pjusk kind of vibe. Very enjoyable album.
Haven't really listened to this properly since downloading it a while back. Collection of alternative mixes etc. Whole album is GBP 1.99 on their site. [Edit: it's OK. Perhaps not top of the line but quite enjoyable - maybe worth two quid if you like downtempo electronica. Seem to remember their site's purchase/download process confused me.]
Since the release of their first album in 2003 Marconi Union have stealthily developed an international reputation for their unique fusion of ambient electronica and organic instrumentation. They have recorded for a number of labels and released four highly acclaimed albums as well as contributing to innumerable compilations, art projects, film and TV.

This part of the library is fricken' FREEZING, but I didn't want to interrupt listening to Johnny.

Thanx and a tip o' the hat to Guvera.

Catching up with the Insubordinations netlabel. Poetry with free jazz backing. Interruptable and not essential. It might read better than it plays.

Oh. Hell. Yes.
Bill Frisell - "Intercontinentals"
An actual album or youtube type videos? If I recall, that concert was streamed as part of a Pitchfork (not me, the last one) promo thing.
Clifford Jordan - "Night of the Mark VII"
(Originally "Highest Mountain" (Live) on Muse)
It's a fantastic recording, too.
EDIT: It was in the first what are you listening to thread. The link (via self-titled mag) is: here.

Thelonious Monk - "Straight, No Chaser (Soundtrack)"
John Zorn/The Dreamers - O'o'
Just as pretty as an album can be.
Ryan Unks: Idaho Batholith.

- Track 6, Die Mole, is just out of this world.
First thing in the morning here - need something gentle and familiar!
