Still listening to this, but additional comment: I've always liked the music on this album, but also found it oddly distressing to listen to. Lo and behold, I found this on Wikipedia:
The reissued CD version featured the original sepia album cover redesigned in colour. Disc one contained the original vinyl sides one and two plus five bonus tracks, and disc two contained the original vinyl sides three to six with the "Apple Jam" tracks in a different order. The 2001 edition is often criticized for being mastered "too loud" by audiophiles, making it an example of the "loudness war" remastering trend. Due to the higher than normal audio level on this CD edition the tops of the loudest audio waves are clipped off, flattening the waves, and effectively adding a new level of digital distortion to the music.
It is a little better on mp3 than I remember it. Is it possible that the lower sound quality of mp3 is actually a benefit when it comes to something mastered overly hot? I think I'll have to track down vinyl or a vinyl rip.
@amclark2 I advocate that any sound engineer that has partook in the loudness war be dragged out in to the streets and a revolver discharged next to each of their ears at close range.

Such a pleasant back porch session with wonderful mountain harmonies. FREE
I think I listened to "Paris" for like a month straight when this album came out. Some of the absolute best from the new wave/post-punk revival.
I'm apparently on a roll of albums with bright pink album covers.

you won't be disappointed. dark, gritty, late-night, menacing rockabily.
