- ""Sculpture for the Blind arranges eight layers of bowed [tam tam] sounds (which are then released) along a pattern of lengthening durations and combined with a sine tone trio, again woven into the sounds of the tam-tam."
After a recent theft that saw the band losing thousands of dollars of gear while on tour, Brass Bed thought it was the perfect time to thank their fans with a free download of their 2013 break-out album.
Seems like that would actually be the worst possible time...?
You'd think so ScissorMan, but according to updates on Facebook, fans and music equipment companies have donated enough money and gear to keep them playing.

I've been on about this a few times on the listening thread, but for the record:
I found a very interesting Cassette archive called Noise Archive:
this website is a collection of underground / independantly released cassette tapes from the days when the audio cassette was the standard method of music sharing, generally the mid eighties through early nineties.
material represented includes tape experimentation, industrial, avant-garde, indy, rock, diy, subvertainment and auto-hypnotic materials... most of what you are about to hear is rather difficult to file under any one category, and thus has not been. . . .
Recommended:
- And with artists such as Big City Orchestra and Hafler Trio + a lot that I don't know anything about
Apparently they've been having problems getting clearance for most if not all of their music in the digital mode because their "borrowed" samples didn't get the necessary approvals at the time, so to get the music out (even if briefly). I imagine that dl'ing will not be easy during that period, but I have signed up and will see how it works (start 11 AM Eastern).
Update: As expected, the site (a dropbox site) is jammed. Looks like I'll be trying throughout the day, night and early morning.
I got mine within an hour, around midday. And the downloads worked fine.
It actually seems weird. This morning I had no music by De La Soul. Now I have over 100 tracks.
If you already signed up to get your free Valentine's Day sounds, don't worry you'll get them!
Due to the overwhelming response it's taking a bit longer.
Better link for the Deep Elm page (on Bandcamp). There's also some post-rock and indiepop stuff in there, for those who care to root around. (Nothing I'd ever heard of, but that's not an indicator of much of anything.)
No, "we" did not. Yes "we" do . . . Thank you very many . . .

The Deep Elm Digital site comes up as unavailable for me, since yesterday. I tried two browsers and clearing cache since "down for everyone" says it not down for everyone, just me. Can other folk access deepelmdigital.com?
These are eBooks, but free from Grove Atlantic which publishes literary ish authors such as Jim Harrison, Barry Hannah, and others. Here's the link. Donation or free link with email address.
