No Christmas time without me posting this: - "Twelve years ago, the vintage recordings website Dawn of Sound released a compact disc collection of public domain early recording artifacts called Voices of Christmas Past. The recordings were cylinders and acetates from 1898 to 1922. Every year after the release, the website was inundated with requests for the CD. Once it was out of print, Dawn of Sound released it online for free. . ."
- "The OO-Ray is back with a holiday gift for everyone. Utilizing new skills in orchestration, the Snowglobe EP presents three miniatures dedicated to the frost, calm, and peace of the winter season. Piano and harp supplement these gentle, joyous, electroacoustic pieces. . . . .
I finished my grading yesterday, enjoyed a lie-in this morning - seeing the announcement of this got me out of bed:
Deaf Center, a collection of unreleased tracks from 2003-2010.
this mesmerizing journey qualifies to be treated as an album providing listener with alternate paths, digressions and alleyways of Deaf Center already released material. This piece of work marks the 10th anniversary of the project and serves as an introspect career statement showcasing the essential elements of duos diverse, yet consistent musical path. According to the band, this is a very personal material, which also includes unfinished and different versions of the tracks. It is a strange and at the same time enchanting trip across the backstage of bands history serving as a reminder of the past and at the same time the proof of the timeless nature and underlying textural core of Deaf Centers music.
To celebrate our 15th anniversary, we are pleased to offer you the first volume of « Enfold », a compilation of songs created with the idea of gentleness and chill.
With the kind and generous participation of Lars Leonhard, I Awake, Fingers In the Noise, Scann-Tec, Asura, Miktek, Martin non-Static, Circular, Master Margherita and AES Dana.
We wish you all a most happy and beautiful Christmas with your loved ones.

A couple of hours ago I started downloading stuff and one of the links I hit was the 'New Weird Australia' Bandcamp link that am2clark (IIRC) provided many, many pages back. Anyway as I was downloading stuff i got to thinking if maybe I couldn't find an avenue to purchase the soundtrack to 'Dogs In Space' (I had the cassette about 20-25 years ago and it got lost/stolen). I've looked for it in the past (mainly on eBay) and just couldn't justify the $80 price or so the market had set. I would check 'other things' periodically and never found anything worth pursuing. This album is probably one of the last few albums I've ever heard that I have a mandate to get a 'digitized' copy if nothing else.
This is a album that would definitely be in my top 10 of stuff to have on desert island.
Note #1: I was somewhat surprised that the review at AllMusic is very negative (Dogs In Space). Oh well. I love this soundtrack. I once again question the tastes 'music critics' as they apply to me.
Note #2: Getting a physical copy of this disc through Amazon will still set one back an exorbitant amount of money.
Note #3: Getting a copy through Discogs is still pretty steep.
I'll settle for a digital copy of very questionable origins.
There's a new free compilation in exchange for signing up to the site at Erased Tapes. Tracks from Lubomyr Melnyk, Peter Broderick, Rival Consoles, Douglas Dare, Nils Frahm, A Winged Victory For The Sullen, Kiasmos and Michael Price. Announcement and link here.
348MB of files related to Janek Schaefer's Asleep at the Wheel installation, including a 40 minute music release.
The complete digital release comes in 3 parts
Asleep at the wheel Info
Short documentary film about the installation
100 photo slideshow, visitor comments and other background files
+
Asleep at the wheel Ghost Road Soundtracks
The complete audio content from the 10 in-car soundtracks including all the inspiring
spoken word extracts from a range of people who understand the consequences of our culture.
You can listen to all the tracks in one go, or just let them pop up in shuffle mode. In fact a car is an ideal place
to listen to this entire album. Burn all the MP3s onto CDRs and take them for a spin to the supermarket.
Then decide what we can do next!

Asleep at the wheel Glovebox Mixtape
A selection of music tracks from the installation.
Originally released as a C-40 cassette tape by the London label My Dance The Skull [MDTS07].
If you have a nice old car cassette player, you will be able to play it on the road, and keep it in your glovebox of course.
SBucks has the cards, but if you get the "App" they have a different song every week or so. Sometimes it is an app or a book, but usually at least 3 a month. I think the Starbucks SotW are much better than the free tracks from iTunes.
A mix of various tracks from 12k releases, chosen chronologically to represent the label's progression.

Danish weirdo par excellence: - "Voks has previously released his music on an Ed Davenport 12" and comp, the Xart Hybrid comp, as part of the Goodiepal's Goodiebag/Demonbag 7" series on V/VM and via the Datamusik.dk website.
Voks grew up in a remote village near a big forest north of Copenhagen, Denmark. When not wandering the forests alone Voks composed music with his familys mac, taperecorders and various instruments found in toyshops and around his familys house.
As Voks left his instruments in his childhood home when moving to Copenhagen in the early 90s he started focusing on computer programming and delve into obsessive compulsive patterns. Voks was forced to set notes and code in strict order every night before going to sleep and as his music got more and more disciplined Voks became a big mess.
Though releasing music and playing concerts with people from the techno scene Voks never really became a part of this. Voks is obsessed with synthrock acts as found on labels like ReR, AAYA Disques, Ata Tak, Ralph Records, Crammed Disc... which can thus be considered as a source of inspiration for his own musical work.
Voks has for many years been programming computers to make them take over his illness to set himself free. Some succes in his project can be traced and Voks is now a fairly happy boy while his music sadly is in deep trouble." http://www.dekorder.com/002.html
With thanks to the nice people over @ We Are The Music Makers Forum, now nicely packed in a 1,34 GB zip file. Each track nicely tagged as AFX and numbered.
Album tagged as user487363530 where it should have been user48736353001, but who cares . . .
There's 152 tracks which is 2 more than on SC - one of them is a gorgeous version of his Girl Boy (dark version) track.
Listening to 4 Red Calx (slo) should wipe out any doubt about this IS the real thing and this collection is music history right in front of our eyes (or ears).
I've enjoyed a few releases of gentle drones from Alonefold. As he came up in my listening rotation I checked back with his page and found there has been another one, titled #15:
