I think the scratches in this one, most visible in this detail, are from our dog. Possibly cat, but judging by the size of the marks, and the fact that the dog was new at around the time I did this one, and attrociously badly behaved, I'm guessing dog.
I love the use of colour in some of these. We're off to a Miro exhibition in London tomorrow and the use of colour in these do remind me of some of his work
Is it a travelling Miro exhibit? I saw one in NY a couple of years ago; I felt a whole different appreciation for him seeing a large number of works all at once.
I think it is - at least two or three places, so could well be the same exhibition. It is on at Tate Modern for 4 or 5 months. We went to the permanent exhibition in Barcelona - near his birthplace - 11 years ago (it was on honeymoon so I ought to get that right!) and I was just totally amazed by the way that he used colour. I'll let you know more after we've seen it tomorrow...
@amclark - we really enjoyed the Miro exhibition. It was organised chronologically which was great to see how his paintings changed over a short period of time in the 1920s to surrealism. I certainly could see considerable links with your work to his mid period in particular. I also became more aware of how his art was often a response to the polical situation in Spain for most of his life. Only a few sculpures there and no tapestries - both of which are well represented in the Miro Foundacion gallery in Barcelona. Not sure if it is coming to New York but if it does I'm sure you'll enjoy. THere is video about him at http://www.tate.org.uk/modern/exhibitions/joanmiro/ as part of the web page support, but unfortunately none of his paintings - copyright reasons I suspect.
It sounds like a good show. Someday, someday, I hope to make it to Barcelona. Sagrada Familia will be the number one thing on my list if I ever do get there.

#276 is really cool. He sort of looks like a zombie, but he could just be having a very bad day.
