Something new from Clinical Archives netlabel, though it's not as "new" as Clinical can be. This seems to be a tour through 70s and 80s Jazz. The first tracks recall Booker Erwin; the third has a muscular funk-fusion feel; the fourth is getting a little more ambitious, though more in the John Carter way. Free, of course.
Not music at the moment! Live Tour de France coverage is live on television, so every afternoon for the next two and half weeks that is what I will be listening to when I can...
Runner-up in Nereffid's awards for concertos. This is obviously continuing my exploration of Martinu, whom I now feel I really understand, which is apparently a rarity in the music world. The combination of folk-ish (not folksy or völkisch) melodies, avant-garde harmonies and energetic rhythms (almost an alternative to jazz) is rather organic. It makes senses as a step forward from primitivism.
Just reminding myself what a great songwriter he is. Currently reading his autobiography and while it has a lot of interesting stories, a book writer he is not. I really wish he'd let Azzarad actually write it rather than just advise him.

So unbelievably unfocused today, just drifting from hour to hour.

Thanks GP! I don't actually have it - I ought to investigate...But at least this has a bicycle on the cover. Can't see him winning a stage though.

On first listen, sounds as if this deserves all the glowing reviews it's been getting.
