"Lava holds true to its title it is a dense surge of glue-think sound, making new paths as it pushes through the landscape. But, after any destructive force there is new growth. Green shoots of melody arc out of the surface and populate the terrain as new possibilities emerge. A new master of heartbreaking ambient drone has arrived. These tracks evoke time spent transfixed, gazing through a giant looking glass, waiting wide-eyed as new discoveries are revealed in the albums textured contours.
On epic opener Agenda, layers of gorgeous synth gradually accumulate into a gloriously massive chord. On single Hubble, a bedrock of fuzzed drone is decorated with glistening counter-melodies, tracing shards of light across the coal-black skies. Softwar builds and then falls away, only to return with a spine-tingling theme that crumbles under its own majesty.
Lavas ability to both suspend the listener in its abstracted liquid vapours and at the same time imprint its affecting narrative is a special thing. It is one of those albums whose emotional impact stays with you long after you feel its last touch."

It seems like a Maya Beiser album with interpretations of various contemporary composers, but I can't find any info, neither @ http://www.innova.mu/ nor @ http://mayabeiser.com/
- Anyways, it's a brilliant album with The hot, young, cello-diva of the avant-garde
I was so excited when this came out, but then convinced myself that it wasn't worth it compared to the single. Finally picked it up during my little stint back over there and can confirm it's great.
"The mysterious anonymous collective Tribe Of Astronauts return with several deep, moody soundscapes made from fractally-mixed horn sounds. No synthesizers were used in this release."
"Esoteric Vapor is a collaborative work from 2010 of Thomas Park (signing here as Mister Vapor) with The Ghost Between The Strings. This time Thomas programmed tribal rhythm structures and atmospheric synth sequences, on which TGBTS later added guitars (sometimes prepared, sometimes with ebow). The result is a catchy blend of ethno-ambient, mysterious drones, post-rockish guitar riffs and experimental string abuses, sometimes warm and serene (Knowing The Spaces, Basalt Pillar), sometimes dark and gritty (Searching For Dark Cycles, Universal Wisdom), always hypnotic."
Seetyca with Mystified- Thrones [treetrunk 157] (July 10, 2011)
"Mystified (Thomas Park) asked longtime collaborator Seetyca if he would be willing to apply his dark ambient mastery to some trombone sounds. Seetyca rose to the challenge in a very unique way-- he processed mystified's trombone in such a manner that his finished tracks made an exact match with his classic style. All sounds, even the "piano" in "trona picta", are actually derived from the trombone.
@Brighternow, that Seetyca thing has one of the least appetizing covers I've seen lately. Looks like a guy with several navels under a blue lamp. Glad I finished breakfast. The Beiser is a clear improvement.

I'm spending the next hour or so listening to the TDF (cycling) on television
I was in Kansas City this week and hung out a little at the 18th and Vine area where Charlie Parker cut his teeth. So currently it's:

It is albums like this, with a number of long tracks, where emusic's European charging system works to our advantage - only £2.10.
