BN, catching up with your trail. That Janek Schaefer piece on Idioscapes is great stuff. (I downloaded Double Exposure also the other night but have still to get to it - waiting for a time when I can give it my full attention). Listening to the Solaris album now - sounds great so far. Eu10 is a bit much for a download - hope it pops up elsewhere also.
@ Germanprof . . .
Yeah, Solaris is a bit expensive, but when Ben Frost is involved I pay with a smile. Considering there's a 30 piece Polish Symphony Orchestra involved, studiotime and who knows what else, it might even be cheap.
BC streaming:
- More innocence than malevolence, a bit "toothless" but quite nice.
Re: Solaris, I see I can get the CD on Amazon for less than the download from bandcamp (converting Euros to dollars has this unhappy habit of making the numbers get bigger). Wishlisted for now. Some kind relative may well give me music money for Christmas. And yes, BN, I agree that the September Malevolence album is a bit more harmless than the band's name and art department might lead one to suspect. Pleasant enough though.
Glad you like it BN - I'm now on the last track and really enjoyed it. We've got quite high winds here, storm on the way, but the snow looks like staying north of us, but it is all travelling in your direction, unfortunately.I'll put up with Jonah's comments - it is good music after all!!!
From the IDIOSYNCRATICS RECORDS catalogue on Bandcamp:
The Smoke Filled Our Hearts And Blinded Our Eyes Beneath The Burning Orange Moon
"Since the beginning of June, Northern New Mexico has been plagued by forest fires. In the beginning the wind carried the smoke across the desert into the city of Albuquerque, where I currently reside. For two weeks smoke hung over the city shrouding the horizon and subtly gesturing towards an imminent doom. Perhaps it was this gesture or the surreal change in our static environment but we drew a little closer to each other. For a moment we could forget the fears that always betray our hearts. One day the wind changed it's direction and the sky was suddenly bright and clear again. Though the fires grew in number and intensity, their reality no longer choked our lungs. As quickly as the smoke cleared our vision we returned to the former callous patterns."
- Joseph Angelo / Luperci.
It's approaching territory that would get certain people in trouble on a certain thread, but I'll give it a pass for admission. Besides, I included it as one of my New Arrivals Jazz picks last week, so tough for me to ponder throwing stones after that, yeah?
NP: As always, "Adventures of a Polar Expedition" by Koppel et al.
P.S. Also @BN, that Prima Neve track sounds promising. Gonna check out his other stuff later.
I think I own that Edward Simon, too, but as far as I can recall, I don't know that Red Records has ever received any attention from me. Gotta look through that catalog. Thanks, Doofy.

Finally got this. It is as much a Julian Lage (guitar) album as a Gary Burton album.
Not actually nearly as Dante-esque as the cover implies.

I'm in "Re-living the 80's" mode!
Fabio Orsi - Prima Neve - "waiting for the first snow"
- Just about half way in - sounds excellent so far. . .
- Jonah might you for posting it on THE Jazz thread.
