Now on my second play of the Amy Winehouse album above. It really does show what a talent we have lost. Although it is a collection of various tracks in the can over several years, including a few fairly recently recorded and not her planned third album, it does show how good she could be. IMO a much greater talent than say Adele (and that is not putting down Adele's talent)
Before: - Futuresequence - Sequence 2. . .
Thanks to Germanprof, unfortunately I missed the free vol 1, but OTOH, 5 $ is very cheap.
Track 7 from Le Berger is really outstanding and caused me to dig up this wonderful album from my library posted by yours truely on the first page of the Bandcamp thread:
Le Berger - De fe'kun.dus ad salus
"Solely sample based source material, chosen from a bare 3 albums as to excite creativity and minimalistic expression as well as keep a steady texture throughout, more so than harmonic diversity. The source material was then lightly edited and mashed up together in a simplistic collage fashion."
But, minimalist as it is, he manages to create a fascinating atmosphere, slowly building up in the six tracks ranging from four to over twenty minutes.
Building from a fierce rhythmic loop, Gnascor Encore & Core
You're welcome, amc & bn. Still haven't worked all the way through that one myself. I actually divided volume 1 into 4 distinct albums for my iPod - a 40+ track album is just not going to get listened to. Need to do the same with vol 2.
Had to run an errand then drive to work today in my son's car. My son's car is essentially a large mobile subwoofer with some accessories like wheels and bodywork. My word, does this album ever sound good in it.
Just to round out the picture, my gift to him for when he gets back from overseas this semester and my DIY project for the next few weeks is going to be to fill the gaping rust holes in the bodywork. And I mean gaping as in you can put your fist inside. He's hoping it keeps running until he's done with college.
@choiceweb0pen0 I found the Sheridan through someone else's rec on here a while back, can't remember who now. It sounds amazing with richer bass than my home stereo has.
The new 2-disc Soundway "Cumbia" set is up on the day before release at eMusic! Alas, didn't get the pricing error I was hoping for. It is actually the same price at Amazon (minus eMu "bonus," of course).
Welcome to this special Amnesty International download page for the Ben Frost soundtrack to The Invisibles.
This new short film by Gael Garcia Bernal and Marc Silver, details the plight of the tens of thousands of men, women and children who leave their homes in Central and South America each year to travel across Mexico in search of a better life in the USA.
Inspired by the stories of the people who make this journey through Mexico, actor and director Gael García Bernal and director Marc Silver joined forces with Amnesty International to shine a light on the abuses migrants suffer. Told over four parts, the film is a shocking look at a world many people would rather you didnt know about.
Ben Frosts soundtrack offers a stark and emotive backdrop to the film, enhancing the already breathtaking and moving scenes captured as the Invisibles stories unfolds. Were hugely grateful to Ben for donating all proceeds from sales directly to Amnesty International.
Download the album now and help Amnesty International to help migrants in Mexico. Free bonus material with every download.
It's too bad, because if they'd just mellowed it out a bit, they might have had a shot at the Avant-Garde Latin Jazz Electronic Fusion Soft Bop Album of the Year award at the Grammys.
Meanwhile, I'm listening to a record called Dreamtime Mapping by a band called Planet I'm Gone, who appear to be defunct. I can't even find a cover image to link to on Google Images... So, FWIW, I'd like to apologize to Planet I'm Gone for not helping spread the word about them while they were active (apparently about 8-10 years ago). They were actually quite talented!

( My edit - Surely, all pictures are visual? Tautology time)
@ Germanprof: you are bound to fall in love with Le Berger - De fe'kun.dus ad salus.
Then
Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited
Thanks, BN.
ETA, the sounds on Partus were a bit too saturated and not grainy enough for my ear, but I'm liking Gnascor Encore & Core
Electro-ambient jazz or whatever, haven't listened in a while. Good for those slow-starting mornings...
K
I think I'd say kind of klezmerjazzprogrock.
Dpony - Movie
- Great stuff ! - Thanks Craig.
In trial this afternoon and this is part of my psych up morning.

Back to research for Music is Good!
Finally up at eMu, though I got it at mTraks.

Without a doubt the year's best avant-garde Latin jazz electronic fusion hard bop album.
That is very very cool. Gonna look into it.
However, my vote for the above category is the San Francisco Latin Jazz Society's current release "Now What"...
Free track at AAJ...

So how many musical genres did we get through/mash between us today?
