I streamed this once before release, and found it ... Interesting... then laughed at all the pan reviews, then it turned up in the Wire's top 10. Then I re-read the panning reviews, and each one made me actually want it more. Emu's pan, which they never pan anything, as a retailer, pushed me over the edge. I'm convinced that in ten to twenty years the hipster equivalent of the day will be falling all over each other to say how great this is. I'm enjoying it.
Just bought this on CD. It has been one of my favorites as MP3 for quite a while, and its rich sound made it a good test case for testing format on my new stereo. Would I be able to hear a significant difference between a high bitrate MP3 and a CD of the same music? Enough to make it worth repurchasing some of my favorite albums on CD?
Yes.
Then moved on to:
Bought this when it came out as an Amazon bargain. Really didn't like it on first listen. Just now gave it another go...and despite his tendency at times to flog a song way past its natural lifespan, I actually rather like a bunch of the tracks on here.
ARC Music 35th Anniversary 1976-2011, an Amazon free sampler. Usually I barely listen to these samplers, but so far every song in this one has been a keeper.
GP, I too hated The Age of Adz at first, but now listen to it regularly. Just not when my wife & daughter are around.
Plong, "Experiment in Terror" was used as the intro music for Saturday night monster movies ("Creature Features") here in Chicago. Much beloved by me as a kid, while scaring the pants off me.
@Doofy - the song, Experiment in Terror is more "creepy," the other music on this album is more or less Henry Mancini jazzy style.
Despite the title, the Middle Earth Ensemble has nothing to do with Tolkein. According to Magntune, they are "sultry and percussive Mid-East fusion." Mangatune has two of their albums, well worth a listen if you enjoy middle-eastern flavored music.
I am currently reading a fascinating article about Amadou and Mariam with hyperlinks to some of their music. If you are at all intersted in West African music, this article is highly recommended.
If I was commenting on an article that had pictures or drawings, I might call it an illustrated article. Is there a similar term when it contains music?
An album of rousing fusion work from the vibrant Scottish folk scene, where every musician seems to play in a variety of very different bands. Treacherous Orchestra are a brave and, at times, very loud 11-piece folk big band, with members who also work with the likes of Salsa Celtica. It's a largely acoustic lineup that includes two pipers, two fiddlers, two percussionists (drum kit and bodhr

And it turns out I was sampling, not streaming...
So I'm listening to this instead:

Unfortunately looks like eMu somewhere along the line picked up on the fact this was mispriced.
Greg: I think there more of an English Hoven Droven than a pirate Bellowhead. They need some more bone-crunching distortion.
Amie freebie. Actually quite pleasant.
Vinyl rip. Swanky despite the title.
