hmmm.... The Residents are touring in 2013 ... going to be in Dallas at the beginning of February. Might be time to scratch one of the items off of my musical bucket-list.
- I just had a meeting with my bank concerning this.
They didn't even buy my argument that I was in need of a new fridge, and when I told them that I would look out for another bank, they laughed and wished me good luck.
Kids today got it so easy... I wish the Al G. would've invented the internet a couple year earlier so I could've enjoyed things like this: Lexicon Devil - Lego Germs
(Check out the other videos on this site, Jimi Hendrixs Voodoo Chile Performed on a Gayageum, a Traditional Korean Instrument and Talking Heads This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody) Performed on Traditional Chinese Instruments are also great.
Kjreilly - fantastic treasury of concert videos of contemporary avant-garde jazz and improvisation performances in NYC. Take, for example, fresh uploads from Tim Berne's Stone residency last week.
The appropriately named FLUX, an ever-changing interactive musical experience that taps into the long-time King Crimson guitarists adventuresome muse.
FLUX is music that is never the same twice, Belew exclusively tells Something Else!, in his first in-depth interview on the project. Its an idea thats been in my mind for several decades, but could never be technologically done until recently. Unlike a record or anything before it, this is never finished. I can continue to add more parts to it, even as people already have it and start listening to it.
These verite songscapes would be delivered via a streaming app, though the contours of that technology are still being worked out. Belew says he expects to have it up and running within the next three months or so. Once complete, his new songs will be deconstructed and randomized, built and rebuilt in entirely new ways, every time theyre accessed.
Lots more to read and see at the link. Assume I'm just late to the party as usual, but this "Something Else Reviews" site looks tres plus cool.
