Chicago Symphony Orchestra Verdi Requiem Mass, Muti conducting, as live-streamed a couple weeks ago. We saw this "live" on the big LED video screen at Millennium Park downtown (ie, across the street from Orchestra Hall) on a perfect fall night. Stream wasn't working very well the first day or two, but seems OK now. Great performance, and the videocast is brilliantly produced.
Nils Frahm playing toilet brushes and More from his recent live album. Fun to watch his energy.
ETA, this is epic. Already one of my favorite tracks of his, great to see this extension of it.
When I was in kindergarten I came down with the chicken pox on a Sunday in the spring. That afternoon as I got sicker I watched TV, saw a performance of "Rhythm of the Night" by DeBarge, and fell in love with the song. I'm currently reading Questlove's book on Soul Train and it mentioned DeBarge performing on the show, which inspired me to figure out what it was I was watching that day in 1985.
Turns out I was watching "Solid Gold" episode 5.25 on March 16, 1985, and obviously there is video:
Current songs done in old styles. e.g. Miley's "We Can't Stop" as a 50s doo wop or "Blurred Lines" as a bluegrass barn dance. Pretty freakin' fun stuff.
The Snail, with music by Porya Hatami (from his new album The Garden, $2.94 on emusic).
This video for me captures something about Hatami's music, which is about slowing down and actually paying attention to small creatures and textures in the natural world, but also re-framing them through a composed electronic frame, helping you see/hear afresh.

Wisconsin was icy on Sunday.

Thanks for that goats and sheet metal video. That was laughter I sorely needed.
Cheers.
