- A repost from the New & Notable from Oct 17th 2011:
"The first ever collaboration between prolific american composer Tomas Phillips and prominent italian newcomer Luigi Turra, "Vignettes Amplifie" presents a sequence of subtle sound constructions characterized by minimalistic and contemplative approach. Quiet field recordings, soft acoustic sounds and organic electronic arrangements builds panoramic view on two levels. The acoustic gestures like bells, manipulated objects and drone fragments are coming from silence and disappearing after some time. On the other hand, there is a kind of reflection of these sonic events in the background, muted and abstracted, hiding from your ears. But these microscopic sounds, short and forgetful, seems to be the main part of the whole thing - when you are trying to trace them down, to catch your attention, and to understand the aesthetical value of this music. Shy and confused, these sounds represents the soul of this music, but in fact they are just grow and fade away like the autumn rain. This album will teach you how to turn your mind into ears, hunting for every little susurration in total silence."

- "Down at an English fair one evening I was there
When I heard a showman shouting underneath the flair
Ive got a lovely bunch of coconuts
There they are all standing in a row
Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head
Give them a twist a flick of the wrist
Thats what the showman said
Ive got a lovely bunch of coconuts
Every ball you throw will make me rich
There stands my wife, the idol of me life
Singing roll a bowl a ball a penny a pitch
Roll a bowl a ball a penny a pitch
Roll a bowl a ball a penny a pitch
Roll a bowl a ball, roll a bowl a ball
Singing roll a bowl a ball a penny a pitch
Ive got a lovely bunch of coconuts (theyre lovely)
There they are all standing in a row (one, two, three, four)
Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head (and bigger)
Give them a twist a flick of the wrist
Thats what the showman said...
Ive got a lovely bunch of coconuts
Every ball you throw will make me rich
There stands my wife, the idol of me life
Singing roll a bowl a ball a penny a pitch (all together now)....
Roll a bowl a ball a penny a pitch (harmony)
Roll a bowl a ball a penny a pitch
Roll a bowl a ball, roll a bowl a ball
Singing roll a bowl a ball a penny a pitch."

I bet I'm the only one here who snagged this on the $0.99 sale. You all missed out! (Since K.R.I.T. is a proud Mississippian I should probably say y'all).
Just finished Three Months To Kill - West Coast Rock'N'Roll - another Fantastic Voyage CD box, 2 discs, I got from Amazon other seller MovieMars-CDs for $9.88. A hip shakin' collection of R&R/rockabilly goodness - one of the best yet I've gotten from them.
Alabama Shakes seemed great at first, but then I began to think of it as one great song followed by some not-filler-but-close. I'll go listen to it again.

Another $2 album. Fourth time through this afternoon, and I must say I am enjoying it a great deal.

Listening to this on July 4 may not be the most patriotic thing I've ever done.
Then again, I bet Thomas Jefferson would have been a fan.

It's good. I do think the surviving members of Queen should sue though. These songs had to have been written by them.

I thought fun.'s first album sounded like Queen and ELO had a love child.
Does one send Best Wishes or Congratulations to all on Independence Day? What is the etiquette here?
Jonah - thanks for recommendation, interesting that I can download this in the UK from emu but not his Folk Songs album, with both on the same label!!
One of the things I got with my $10.00.
