Frames Music - "Frames is an experimental collective from Italy started in 2007 by Stefano Roncarolo, a young and virtuoso italian bass player, and Sandro Marinoni, trombone, flute and tenor saxophone player.
Many remarkable artists from around the world have worked and still working with the team: russian pianist Andrey Kutov, italian pianist and keyboardist Roberto Padovan, great avantgard singer Boris Savoldelli, japanese artist Kenji Siratori, italian singer and producer Paolo Baltaro, italian sound engineer Francesco Perugini, argentine percussionist Humberto Luis Schenone and more. . ."

- Maybe this is suitable for a jazz pick ?
Not only is Marinoni a brilliant sax player, but he and the Italian Frames Collective has been generously giving away their music for years and they certainly deserve all the attention they can get . . .
Thanks BT - I'm currently downloading Jared Fairfield. I've been waiting for a couple of new folk albums today from emusic, but neither there although both on labels they have here in the UK -by Scottish band Lau and by Marry Waterson and Oliver Knight. Both were due for release today and both have arrived at Amazon UK. There are even a couple of new releases on the latter's label that are there. So I suppose I'll have to wait. I'm just keen to spend my month's credits, as I do wonder how long emu will go on, like, I think, Thom said on another thread. And remember November, month of change, is not far off now!!!
Moral dilemma time: today's sale at eClassical is part of Tveitt's 100 Tunes from Hardanger. On the one hand, the album seems to fit in with my interest in the recycling of the elements of traditional culture. I've even recommended these recording to several people, perhaps even Kez. I passed up the opportunity to get a previous volume, and partially regretted it. And this is a well reviewed album.
On the other, Tveitt was associated with cultural movements (neo-heathenism) and would themselves be associated with Scandinavian fascism. That might seem like a stretch, but Tveitt made a few antisemitic asides. Moreover, the one album I have--his Baldur opera--is, IMO, good, but easily forgotten. Of course, an opera is more of a "statement"; these works might not suffer the same problem.
I don't feel like I'm falling into the trap of how to appreciate Riefenstahl or Speer (both overrated), but I hate to dismiss the recording without going into the particulars of Tveitt's beliefs, something I doubt I will do today. Any thoughts?
This is one of those records that does not stand out sharply in my memory, and I don;t often think of listening to it, but whenever I do I really enjoy it.
Yes, BT, I see your dilemma, and sorry I am not going to be able to help, as I can see it is something that only someone in your position can make up their mind on. Decades ago an evangelical Christian friend told me to destroy my LP of Hotel California by the Eagles because of the words of the title track as he had done. I admit I didn't - I've got the track on my ipod even now. Has it made a difference not doing so? I really cannot say whether owning that track has had any impact.
Thanks for the tip about Bella Hardy - I'll follow up. New Bellowhead album out in a couple of weeks. They are touring the UK soon for a couple of weeks. Two of the dates are both about two hours drive away, but both are mid week, which makes it diffficult to go to. The weekend concerts are many hours away, so sadly I won't get to see them this time.

Now that I've stopped buying music from eMusic and elsewhere, I've suddenly realized how much great music I have, but rarely listen to.
This was one of those shall I or shall I not? albums. So I decided to use part of my £10 bonus from emu to get it. Sounds good so far.
Spent part of my E music bonus on this

Ambient experiments from Jeremy Messersmith (free/nyop). Remarkably good for a guy who usually focuses on '60s infused pop.

3epkano - s/t. This is a very nice album - well worth the $2.94 it's going for at emusic. Instrumental-post-rock-filmscore music.
