@greg: Thanks for answering. It's academic now because the sale has passed. Being too aware that something folksy can become völkisch nationalism, I tend to overthink some forms of culture.
A compilation cd found in a dollar bin called "The Best of Pilipino Love Songs"; made in Japan; Pilipino may be a typo, but it's what the cover says. Interesting.
- - "Following itsnotyouitsmes first two critically acclaimed albums is everybodys pain is magnificent, an 88 minute double-disc album that serves as a mature and well-honed artistic statement. Like the duos first two albums walled gardens and fallen monuments which were lauded by critics for their idiosyncratic ambient sound worlds generated by copious melodic looping, everybodys pain is magnificent enraptures the listener with its dense textural landscapes. The emphasis on slowly shifting harmonies and polished timbres represents a marked departure away from the groups earlier Philip Glass-inspired additive process minimalism and toward a more abstracted soundworld of flowing textures."

@Lowlife, good catch, and I don't have At Land yet, so am off a-clicking. Thank you! I got my copy of the EP when it was still a pay-for, but it was at Mtraks prices, so I don't feel too hard done by.
If anyone does not have the 3epkano self-titled EP, Lowlife pointed out they are now giving it away for free on bandcamp. Well worth checking out. Lowlife, I'll post these to the free stuff thread for future reference.
@Brighternow, I'm eagerly awaiting hearing that Itsnotyouitsme album. When you posted it earlier I went looking around, sampled it a little, and found a CD copy for sale very cheaply on Amazon marketplace - but it's shipping from the UK, so will take a while. I've been resisting listening in before it comes - looking forward to it arriving. Thanks for the rec.
This is a collection of songs recorded on our US house concert tour in May/June/July 2010, and features contributions from two outstanding friends - Todd Reyolds and Neil Alexander. We feel blessed to have got to play with them.
We released the first 6 at the beginning of June, then added the other recordings as we went on. The sales of the album while we were on tour helped pay for hotels, petrol and nappies for @baby_flapjack - thanks so much to everyone who has bought it so far. We're really proud of it, both as a document of the tour and as a statement of what we're about musically right now.
Born Of The 3rd Of July is the first new solo tune from me to be properly released in over four years. That feels good. And the recordings of Lobelia's solo tunes are all firsts too.
PLEASE share the music with your friends - play it to them, send them links to here, embed the player on your blog or facebook page, swap the tracks from your phone to someone else's... it all helps spread the word about the music.
We can't do it alone - we need your help. Keep it up.

Currently listening to a preview of Van Morrison's new album - you know the way, 90 seconds of each track on itunes. Sounds one of his better recent albums by the first three tracks so far.
Update - yes I like it, certainly a download to come, but I'll wait for next week, everywhere has it for £7.49 or £7.99. It could well be one of Amazon's £4.99 albums next week!
Delving back even further in my record buying. This EP was the first record I ever went out and bought myself, in October 1963. I'm reminded of it because I have just been reading that Friday is the 50th anniversary of Love Me Do being released. Somewhere I still have that record, probably well scratched by now, but nothing to play it on, so the tracks have been selected on itunes instead! As it is the 50th anniversary of its release, I assume we will soon have it on emusic in Europe!!

Mainly because this was next on my itunes and it just carried on playing after Alex Riel whilst I was checking emails etc!!
One of the best free jazz samplers (ie a sampler that is free!) I have heard in a while - see Jazz at Bandcamp thread for details
An afternoon of modern string quartets: Schnittke, Ives, and Glass.

This was about the fourth or fifth LP I bought way back when!
