$5.99 from eMu, 198 tracks, ten hours of decent (for the most part) old folky / blues music. My guess is I have a fair number on other sets, but some real gems int he mix. Not sure why it is sorted alphabetically; listening on random helps. Current: Son House, Am I Right or Wrong?
According to Wikipedia, it is also known as a Theorbo, and was "developed during the late sixteenth century, inspired by the demand for extended bass range for use in opera developed by the Florentine Camerata and new musical works based on basso continuo, such as Giulio Caccini's two collections, Le nuove musiche (1602 and 1614)."
Four Tet - There is Love in You
[Domino Records, 25 January 2010]
- "Kieran Hebden (born 1978, Putney, London) is a post-rock and electronic musician. Hebden first came to prominence as a member of the band Fridge before establishing himself as a solo artist under the moniker of Four Tet.
Hebden's music originally eschewed the traditional pop song format in favour of a more abstract approachhis sound and melodies incorporate elements of hip hop, electronica, techno, jazz, and folk music with live instrumentation. His newer works are inspired heavily by house music.
Alongside recording his own material, Hebden has also performed remixes for a number of artists including Aphex Twin, Anti-Pop Consortium, Bonobo, Beth Orton, Born Ruffians, Explosions in the Sky, Super Furry Animals, Radiohead, Manic Street Preachers, Matthew Dear, Sia, Nathan Fake, Bloc Party, Andrew Bird, Kings of Convenience, Battles, Juana Molina, Madvillain, The xx, Foals, and Black Sabbath, as well as producing two albums by psychedelic improvisational group Sunburned Hand of the Man. Hebden's recent output includes a number of improvisational works with the late jazz drummer Steve Reid and collaborations with both Burial and Thom Yorke."

@Plong42 - I'd love that boxed set, but here it costs nearly £84 on emusic! This shows the problem of formulaic pricing. They will never sell any in Europe at that price. Like Lowlife I've also been to my library and got this out:
I don't know anything about it, but it is on ECM so must be worth a listen at least.
Time Travellers is the first collaborative album between Dusted Wax Kingdom label members Jenova 7 and Mr. Moods. Jazzy trip-hop and downtempo instrumental music for a chill atmosphere."The well-known Dusted Wax Kingdom artists Jenova 7 and Mr. Moods travelled back in time and brought back the grooviest nuggets from forgotten old dusty jazzy records, coming up with a masterpiece collaboration album. Push the play button, light a ciggie, laid back and let the downtempo musical magic unwind the stress." - dustedwax.org
Jonah - this is a new release on emusic - at least in UK - and is classified as electronic, but it could just as easily be classified as jazz, possibly worth a listen for your Jazz Recs (It was originally released in UK in 2008, but the label Accidental Records only arrived on emusic earlier this month)
Wow; kind of intrigued by that Greg - Matthew Herbert's a pretty well known electronic musician - or at least he was all the regae a few years ago - I always meant to check out some of his albums, but never got around to it. But the idea of an electronic big band combination sounds interesting . How is it?
I'm enjoying this a lot, and a lot more than I thought I would. I still couldn't resist the joke cover art though.
I'm only a few tracks into it, amc, but some are more big band, some more electronic, with others combining the two. So far I am liking it. The earlier album I played is perhaps more electronic than big band - but great IMO. You can hear full samples of several of his big band tracks on his website - not sure of the www but I am sure Google will help!
Next up for me will be this (the email and subsequent download delayed the playing of the above album!)

BigD: if you are interested, you might wait until it shows at eClassical in order to get the flac version--it's about 30% off, maybe $10.
