"A four-part composition of dual depth from Oren Ambarchi, displaying an adept sense of musicality in the form of deeply melodic song structures, alongside confidently impulsive moments in the form of spiralling explorations into free-rock and avant-garde minimalism. A highly revered artist in the field of experimental electronics for obvious reason.[/img]

In February of 2011, Kelley McRae let go of her Brooklyn apartment and spent the entire year touring America. She traveled coast to coast with her husband and guitarist, Matt Castelein, playing over 200 shows and putting 35,000 miles on their VW camper van. Along the way, she encountered the people and places that inspired the songs on her third album, BRIGHTER THAN THE BLUES. This new album details a life on the road, from a glorious meal in New Orleans to a drive through the yellow hills of California, but musically, the albums heartfelt Americana draws from McRaes Mississippi roots. And although the album retains more than a hint of the sense of loneliness and longing that will be familiar to fans of McRaes previous albums, NEVER BE (4 Stars, Paste Magazine) and HIGHRISES IN BROOKLYN (Brilliant, Bob Harris BBC Radio), these songs carry a new sense of hope and light.
I downloaded that yesterday afternoon Lowlife - I've only played a couple of tracks so far, but I liked what I heard. After the reminder I'll now play the rest!
If I Were A Bell
You're My Everything
I Could Write A Book
Oleo
It Could Happen To You
Woody 'n' You
I've not checked this against either emusic or Amazon, but I'd be more inclined to go with Amazon in general.
I've been playing this quite a lot lately. I'd almost call it a deconstruction of the big band sound in a contemporary setting. I prefer this to his other, later big band release, possibly because it does sound more like a big band.
@Brighternow, thanks for that link. The US price has been putting me off the last Green Kingdom release. Will probably bow to history at some point, but over $7 seems to be my current psychological threshold at emusic. A new one at $4.41 will keep me happy in the mean time.

American Baroque - Dances and Suites of Rameau and Couperin
Three free tracks from Jess Klein
Second play
My (apparently) ill-gotten gain from Guvera (thanks, dddanmar). This album has the reputation of being the precursor to Brass Monkey.
Thanks to Greg, if I haven't already.

With thanks to Guvera,
Does anyone know what the correct track listing for this album is? Amazon and emusic have different ordering of the tracks.
My favorite of the 99 cent Amazon haul from earlier in the summer.

ETA: The Nostalgia track is awesome !
ETA2: Otherwise a bit too toothless and way to melodramatic for my taste . . . (from the first listen)
