It looks as if he died and was replaced by a marionette between the recording and the making of the video.
    :)

  • In case you were wondering how to swing a pop ballad on the Hammond B3 in 1966, here you go. 45 version, with crackles and all..
  • Props to the Maarten Altena Ensemble for even trying a cover of Eno/Byrne's "America Is Waiting." Love the accent.

  • Most likely posted before . . .

  • The cover version that I dare not speak it's name
    Don't tell anyone ;)

    Barack Obama - Amazing Grace
  • Anything by  Caballero Reynaldo is excellent, ran across him via his Zappa cover albums (the UNmatched series). In The Lounge Of The Naldo King is a disc of King Crimson covers; Ringomania is a collection of Beatles covers, but only songs sung by Ringo.

    Streaming on BandCamp.

    Røde Mor cover

  • Plong42 - Nguyen Le album is still available at eMusic. ACT is one of the few decent labels actually left there. I downloaded it a few weeks back, good use of my limited credit!
  • Imagine there’s no heaven
    It’s easy if you try
    No hell below us
    Above us, only sky
    Imagine all the people
    living for today

    Imagine there’s no countries
    It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion, too
    Imagine all the people
    living life in peace
    ooooh

You may say I’m a dreamer
    I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
    And the world
    will be as one

    Imagine no possessions
    I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
    A brotherhood of man
    Imagine all the people
    sharing all the world
    yeahhh

You may say I’m a dreamer
    I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
    And the world
    will be as one

  • @greg - thanks, just used up most of the monthly budget to get the rest of Nguyen Le's albums from eMu (while the lights are still on).  Homescape and Saiyuki are both excellent.

I purchased Nguyên Lê & Ngo Hong Quang, Ha Noi Duo from iTunes, probably my favorite. His cover albums are fun too.

  • From our very own:

Just to say, you can buy it, listen,  but DL is not possible. Emu support has given up
I'm thinking, is The Leaf Label on it's way out ?

Further: I got my money back and subsequently found out that everything except track 6 worked. I then bought track 6 from Bandcamp for 0,79 €.
    - A bit tricky perhaps, but track 6 is still bad, so i guess "the trick" still works.

    Speaking of Kraftwerk:

Klingklang is the private music studio of the band Kraftwerk, taken from the first song on the Kraftwerk 2 album. Back in 2016 I was invited to contribute to a CD accompanying a popular music magazine with a tribute to this fine group. I chose to cover this tune from 1972, which unusually featured flute, guitar, violin, bass but strangely no synths! To reflect this I decided to perform it completely live, without tidying up the recording. Unfortunately due to legal issues the album never came to light so hope you will enjoy this rather special mix that has never been heard before.
