- And by all means, do not miss the amazing drum performance by Morgan Ågren !

This project was put together in collaboration with the traveling exibition of Don Van Vliets paitings, Erik Palm and myself. We selected some good people for this project, rehearsed a couple of days and did three concerts in April 1995. April 1+2 in Umeå, and the last one in Stockholm May 4th. Fortunately it was all recorded! (This bandcamp upload is remastered)
In my view, Freddie was better than the Captain ever was. - Freddie died in 2016, only 64 years old.

Ahem, you wouldn't be trying to poke a wasp nest with a stick there would you?
Anyway it is certainly interesting - I note Denny Walley's presence. But Wadling might be too good a singer; the Captain didn't really have an 81/2 octave range as he claimed but his voice would break and skip from a growel to a falsetto like a true blues singer. I'm glad you pointed this out though!

Heh ! . . . no, not intentionally . . .
I've had so many unforgetable moments with Freddie. He was really such a kind person with an intensity and passion that could mesmerize the audience and fill out the room completely.
- My only encounter with Beefheart was as support for a Jean-Luc Ponty show.
After a few minutes he yelled to the sound manager "Turn me Up !" - after which half of the audience was running out from the hall, covering their ears.
Anyways, more Freddie Wadling bliss:
