I've mentioned this one before, but thought I'd point it out again; this is a field recording of some truly beautiful coral singing with drums recorded in a village in the Democratic Republic of Congo that no longer exists. It's NYOP, and any donations are said to go to help the relief efforts of the guy who recorded it. Recommended to anyone who likes African music; also reminds me a little of Polynesian Hymne. greg - you should listen to this one; others too.
Seriously great experimental noise-punk from Beijing. More info from tmt. NYOP, and tmt says "I guarantee that whatever money you choose to spend will go directly into printing flyers for shows that will be attended by mostly friends of the bands playing."
amc - Thanks for pointing out the Fat City album, sounds really interesting. A lot of krautrock influence on it.
Pearls Negras - Biggie Apple
Stereogum's mixtape of the week (photo is linked directly to free download), it's baile funk and seriously fun. It's in Portuguese so I have no idea what the lyrics are, though. Someone here speaks Portuguese, right? BT?
I turned down the opportunity to see them, Craig, can't remember why now, something that I probably thought more important or better at the time, assuming I could go another time, but never did. But I regretted it then and have done since. This is the nearest I'll now get:
amc2 - thanks for the reminder about Obenge Recordings. I'll try to find a stream of the Kacey Musgraves' album on Spotify to listen to it, especially as it is on offer at Amazon this week here.
Although I just had to take a break from it to listen to the new track from Future feat. Pharrell, Pusha T, and Casino, which is freakin' awesome. I knew Pusha T would have something good for a song about selling drugs, but damn Casino absolutely brings it.
Still loving the new Otto Totland album. Anyone who likes Felt by Nils Frahm should give it a listen - very similar aesthetic and nicely done.
Headed to London tomorrow, so Norwegian-music-only week will soon be done.

You could get two copies of this on CD (with Auto Rip) from Amazon for the price of a single mp3 download.
Makes perfect sense.
ETA: Inspired by this footage from a 1980 show in Detroit that just surfaced. Man, I wish I'd seen The Clash in concert.
