"Concept record about Philippe Petit's historic highwire walk between the Twin Towers of NYC's World Trade Center." (must be a different Phillipe Petit than I know)
- Nice one, Jonah . . .

- "A thirteen track compilation available for free download (no e-mail address required). You can pay something if you want, but it is not required. If you want to show your support another way, you can help us by spreading the word - post a link on your blog, tweet, shout out your window."
Spent much of this week being reminded that air travel is about 50% waiting for storms to clear in Chicago, whether you are in Chicago or a long way from Chicago.
Sitting in Springfield, MO airport right now with about two brain cells left to rub together. Next flight on time so far, but believing that would be irrational at this point.
-Found on bandcamp via a bad search result. It's actually pretty good. I'm in the middle of my first listen, and thought maybe some of you might enjoy it, too.
I'm so deep into modern jazz, I've lost touch with all other genres. I don't know who to compare them to these days. If I had to date myself, I'd say this is the kind of thing I'd hear on the Elephant 6 Collective back in the 90s. It also reminds me a bit of when Mercury Rev began transitioning from post-punk Boces to indie-psych See You On the Other Side.
Here's the tags they put on their Bandcamp page: rock country psych weird America western Kalamazoo
Jason Adasiewicz Sun Rooms - "From the Region"
-One of the best vibe guys on the scene, making challenging music that still goes well with first thing in the morning peacefulness.
Bob Stewart - "Connections: Mind the Gap"
-Anyone who remembers, and enjoys, the Hal Wilner Weird Nightmare: Meditations on Mingus is sure to enjoy this, too.
Giving this one another shot after a significant time away...
Anouar Brahem - "The Astounding Eyes of Rita"
-I was on a pretty good Brahem binge at the time this came out. Maybe Rita's eyes are hot shit, but this music certainly wasn't in any way astounding. Looking to see if the music connects with me any differently a few years later.
Been listening to Louis Armstrong, Complete Hot Fives and Sevens, as well as some Taylor Eigsti, on the way down to Chicago. (Yes, after two days of retrying to escape Chicago by air I spent a night at home and drove back to Chicago. Home again tomorrow.)
-Talented violinist and talented pianist record a strange jazz-folk album on the ACT Music label. Gonna be one that grows on me over time, I'm thinking. Probably listened it through about five times now. Took about a month off before this listen, and I'm taking to it even more than before.

Googling this led me to "seagulls on laxatives." Check it out if you need a wtf for the day.
If you're curious about Les Rallizes, this one's only $2.67 at amazon. (Big O Zine has one free though).

Just off to try again to get out of Chicago, only 12 hours delayed.
Lasso - "Golden Lasso"

It's NYOP. If I still like it after a few listens, I'll think I'm going to lay down a few bucks on the table.

Igor Gehenot Trio - "Road Story"
It's been sitting in various playlists for quite a while, just now realized I never wrote anything about it on BitW. I believe that's about to change.
