Despite the stash of ECM I picked up on Guvera, there was no Towner, and given the lack of ECM streaming opportunities I never followed up until spotting this used at Corner Records this afternoon. Lovely stuff so far. If the current run continues I may have to give up my grumble that ECM titles don't find their way to used CD stores in Grand Rapids - this is the third or fourth I've found this summer.

A mysterious act known as the FLK released a folk-inspired mix CD in 2011 entitled We Know Where The Time Goes, featuring a whole host of English music and the voices of Mike Harding and Ken Russell. Mostly folky anyway The Cure, Jesus & Mary Chain, Queen, Matt Cardle, Japan and the Wonderstuffs ansaphone all feature in a celebration of pretty much everything English. Which is a lovely thing when its presented like this and not draped in flags and facemasks as it sadly is all too often now.
Arrange the letters and that gives a clue to the band
Maya Beiser: Uncovered is a collection of startling classic rock tunes, re-imagined and re- contextualized, in stunning performances by "cello goddess" (The New Yorker) Maya Beiser. A "cover tune" can be an homage to the original, but these "uncovers," in new arrangements by Evan Ziporyn, attempt to do more to evoke the unprecedented power of the music of Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Janis Joplin, Howlin Wolf, and AC/DC.
Little by little the night turns around.
Counting the leaves which tremble at dawn.
Lotuses lean on each other in yearning.
Under the eaves the swallow is resting.
Set the controls for the heart of the sun.
Over the mountain watching the watcher.
Breaking the darkness
Waking the grapevine.
One inch of love is one inch of shadow
Love is the shadow that ripens the wine.
Set the controls for the heart of the sun.
The heart of the sun, the heart of the sun.
Witness the man who raves at the wall
Making the shape of his questions to Heaven.
Whether the sun will fall in the evening
Will he remember the lesson of giving?
Set the controls for the heart of the sun.
The heart of the sun, the heart of the sun.
