Where on earth did I get this - all the way back to Amie days? "Friendly Bears" is the band name. Prog-y jazz fusion, or some such - Almost undoubtedly recommended by someone here!
Oh dear, my emusic balance is 9 cents short of an ECM album :-(. Oh well, refresh day soon.
I wonder if emusic would make money if they offered $1 boosters for precisely this situation. I would click on that many times a year. Most of it would probably go in credit card fees though.
From the Amie Days, I believe I recommended a group (solo act, actually) called "Message to Bears." That one, though, doesn't look familiar.
NP:
Alexander Turnquist - "Flying Fantasy"
-Solo guitar act, 12-string and other guitars... a Leo Kottke kind of thing, not a jazz kind of thing, definitely a beautiful kind of thing. If I get my shit together this morning, it'll be part of today's non-Jazz Tiny Reviews column on the site.
- "Ordinary is bad and the predictable is boring. And whenever there are artists out there who try something else, something which is just a bit more unusual you can count on NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION to take a closer look. And one of the most fascinating acts weve stumbled upon in the past months has been Copenhagen-based DJ/producer collective DEN SORTE SKOLE. . . .
Not music today! It is soccer Transfer Deadline Day in Europe, so I have a sports news channel on in the background. Signings today can make all the difference to the season ahead - both positively, if a great new player is bought, or negatively, if the star player is sold. Lowlife will totally understand that as one of his team's recent managers had/has a reputation for his deadline day dealings.

-Solo bass, looping, some sax accompaniment. New age-y style jazz in a 90s ECM Records kind of way. Peaceful stuff for first thing in the morning. The guy just followed me on Twitter and is often the case, if they have a bandcamp or soundcloud link on their profile, I'll follow it immediately and listen. Not bad, suiting the moment fine... early morning, just got up and it's gloomy and rainy outside and it's Monday and I don't have to go to work.
That crow one is kind of interesting. I bookmarked it for a return down the road. Thanks.
NP:
Marcin Wasilewski Trio - "Faithful"
-Still don't care as much for this one as I did "January," but it's still nice to come back to from time to time. Looking forward to the trio's upcoming release.
-Music accompanied by sound of cats going nuts in the other rum, alternating between chasing one another and tackling. Oh, to be a kitty on a hot Summer day with the air conditioning on.
