rhythm without calculation.
momentum without destination.
whim without preconception.
emotion without analysis.
landscape without what?
nature can be synthesized.
Such a great headphone album. Either it's just been too long since I've last listened to this album or it's from wearing better headphones, but the way sound samples come in and out of both channels is amazing.
- "Theres an exquisiteness that dominates much of Tomasz Bednarczyk debut release for Room40 Summer Feelings.
Whilst the title might suggest uplifting rafts of melody and shimmering texture baked in the sun - Bednarczyks summers are experienced in Poland and ultimately tempered by snowy winters. With this tempering comes a sensibility to his compositions that creates a deeply personal impression of summer through sound.
Longing piano passages, akin to those found on Enos ambient masterpieces, are edited and washed with various processes. As the release unfolds, the details of the subdued field recordings come to the fore, creating a depth to his work.
Utilising restrained almost fragile aesthetics, Bednarczyk goes about documenting various holiday stories and events which find new meaning in the ears of the listener. An album dense with emotive spatial character and powerful imagined narrative." Room40 - 2007
On a Shihab kick lately, not that there's all that much in print. Have yet to dig into the discog on this, but I take it he was not leader on most of these sessions. This set has gone up a buck since I bought it last week at 7digital.

This plus all the other tracks I downloaded by this band - you don't really want lots of individual pictures, do you?
Energizing live performance, despite goofy-ass album title, He covers not only "My Girl" but also Bread's "Make It With You"...hey, it was 1972!
