In the North Atlantic by Ehrler Vogel. Field recordings by the founder of Luxus Arctica. Sounds of water with mild musical backing. Gentle, unassuming, though not very cohesive. Free.
Abandoned
My Other Shadow by Kecap Tuyul on the Webbed Hand netlabel. Random stabs at an acoustic guitar. mystified approved of it, but it sounds to me like a misfired soundtrack. YMMV. Free.
Now
Stigma by earlyguard on weareallghosts netlabel. More excellent long-form drones. Not particularly challenging, but well thought-out and executed. Free at archive.org and NYOP at BC (profits go to supporting the label's Soundcloud account).
New I guess you'd say tribute album from Vince Gill - tribute to the Bakersfield sound. Nicely done and I like it but it may be a little too polite - wish Vince had lit the strings up the way I know he is capable of but he doesn't. If you like the Bakersfield sound or want some country that sounds like country not pop or rock you might like, or you might just want to listen to Buck and Merle's old records instead.
Adeline by The Sun Aesthetic on Oxide Tones netlabel. Headphonaught describes this as sunny music for a sunny day. I disagree: this is sunny music for a cloudy day. Neo-classical piano with little glitchy elements. Bouncy, defiantly optimisitc, and very recommneded. Free.
Continuo V-VIII by earlyguard. The middle third of his twelve-part cycle of longform drones. These are more expository, if I may say, than his other works. Definitely interesting listening. NYOP
A mix of the Codona world-jazz thing and the R&B cool rock and the 70s psychedelia that influenced much of the music of that decade. A poor synopsis, but I am literally just listening to this first song, so don't go copying and pasting this into Wikipedia, yeah?
Started with Roxy Music's For Your Pleasure, then ended up here with Mel (at work - now that others are at work, I need to keep the music low and mellow).
@cafreema - David Lemieux is the current Grateful Dead archivist; he replaced the long-time tape-archivist Dick Latvala (of Dick's Picks fame). Dick died 14 years ago today, oddly enough. In between Dave and Dick there was a short-lived "Download Series" on iTunes and a "Road Trips" series.
Comments
Hidden Scenes by Sundrugs on BLWBCK. More dark drones, though not as complex as Postdrome. NYOP
More friends of Johnny Dowd.
Thanks for those links BT.
