- "Kate Moore (1979) presents music that feels simultaneously familiar and
strange. It explores the transformation of musical material through a
landscape of memory and reference. In Debris & Alchemy allusions of
60s folk/pop, the experimental avant-garde, sacred music and hard-core
gothic rock are splattered with the sounds of strange objects, shards of
porcelain, car engine springs and garbage cans. Pairing church organ
with an eccentric mix of saxophones and electric guitar conjures a
wilderness of crumbling Gothic architecture and decaying rusty cars."
May 20th was a pretty good day William Ryan Fritch - New Words for Old Wounds I'd forgotten I did have some DM Stith in the library from the Revisionist album.
ps terrific - Thanks to Lowlife for putting me on to him in the first place.
Well, it's raining here for the 2nd day in a row, thankfully. All the rain barrels are full and the grass is greening up again. I decided to check out some Lost Tribe Sound label mates. Western Skies Motel - Generations from discogs Instrumental solo project from Danish artist René Gonzàlez Schelbeck. His music is inspired by American traditional Folk and combines electronic, drones and field recording textures.
Mute Forest - Deforestation It was eerie, just like this, the other day when the smoke from the fires burning in Northern Alberta drifted through our town like a thick fog.
This much needed rain & snow in some parts, has already started the process. Mute Forest - Reforestation Remixes by Western Skies Motel, Mombi, Porya Hatami, Spheruleus & Kiln. Thanks to Germanprof, I had this in the SFL.
Well, Ralph Koper had me thinking about Chris Watson, so I opted for this EP as Ralph's going to have to wait for the next double booster deal.
Giacinto Scelsi - Duo for Violin and Cello, Pt. 1&2 featuring Aisha Orazbayeva & Lucy Railton Chris Watson - Invertebrate Harmonics Joe Browning - Honshirabe
Well, I managed to find another empty barrel hiding out in the back and fixed the downspout out front during a lull in the rain. It's probably full of water by now. Bardo Pond & Tom Carter - 4/23/03
Well, here goes the last one in this series. I couldn't think of a better way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon than listening to some really interesting guitar players.
Steve Gunn/Kurt Vile - Parallelogram
ps- well that does it for all the bonuses. I upgraded to fan to get 31 cents finish off this last download right away.
ps again - How fitting it should end with this track Spring Garden terrific!
Well, now I still have $20 or so to use up by Friday. As soon as I saw this tree, I knew I had to have it. Thanks to Craig, plus a big thanks for the introduction to Savages and thanks to Bn for the video. I thought it was great.
Whoa, just started digging into that Lost Tribe label and already having to strategize my upcoming purchases. These two are gonna be first...
Western Skies Motel - Generations William Ryan Fritch - New Words for Old Wounds
Thanks to everyone here who's been posting this stuff.
Cheers.
P.S. Totally random thought, but seeing those album covers side-by-side, it's like an HBO show marathon ad: First up, Carnivale, then later, True Detective Season 1. Like I said, random.
Realized I haven't been listening to this so much, and that it's because of the Symphony on disc 3. Not that it's bad, and in fact Parker obviously has plenty to say with a string section. But discs 1 and 2 are the real stuff
acoustic doom and pseudotango of lost, deep, wooden men. double doppelgänger of chamber music and wheezing jazz for ghost towns. tobacco warm and gloriously dark, smeared in smokey, scorned love and dust.
