‘Monads' is the latest work by Iranian sound artist Porya Hatami. A departure for Hatami, this new album eschews melody in favour of abstract and at times very experimental sound design. The 12 tracks of ‘Monads’ neglect to follow structure or narrative. They propose repetition, temporarily and indeterminacy as their substantial qualities Occasionally the textures reach the jagged end of the spectrum, tactile but never abrasive. An exploration of frequencies is present on many pieces here, subsonic at times, almost undetectable by ear, making themselves felt more than heard.
This collaborative project between Mats
Erlandsson and Yair Elazar Glotman draws on their respective musical
backgrounds to create an imaginary, dislocated "folk" music for the
current dark ages. The project brings together instruments out of their
historical or national contexts and focuses on local sounds that have
lost any connection to locality or folk and transforming them through
current production techniques.
And the music roles on; this early evening post dental work.
In the same area maybe as MV & EE some good guitar work here.
The Museum of Imaginary Animals. One of only two Pram releases I have. Should correct this soonest. The group (out of Birmingham if I recall) is easily the equal of Broadcast who get all the plaudits (but for a sad reason).
"An exclusive outtake from "The Mystery Of The Gardener's Groove/Illumination", William Parker & Hamid Drake live at Retromedia Sound Studios in Red Bank, New Jersey on September 21, 2015. This outtake from "The Mystery Of The Gardener's Groove/Illumination" presents a window into the tone world of William Parker & Hamid Drake."
"I awoke to the sounds of cows in the pasture next to my home. Music
to my ears, the moos inspired Garland Hirschi's Cows, a concerto in
three “moo-vements.” The work includes the voice of the cows' owner,
Garland C. Hirschi, who asks, “You wanna know a little about my cows,
huh?,” and tells stories about growing up with cows and what makes them
moo.
From the review in Fanfare, The Magazine for Serious Record
Collectors: “Garland Hirschi's Cows is a meticulously crafted and aimed
delight, a little masterwork of whimsy … an effervescent mix."

@djh - I have so many favourite Van Morrison albums but this one is up there near the top, especially the title track.
AAJ review. What a kick it has been to watch Nicole's work evolve over the years. She is coming back to town with yet another new project next month!
