  • @greg, @Brighternow , yes, Norway.
I am currently in the village where Tord Gustavsen grew up, which is cool as he is maybe my favorite pianist.

  • From the Mouth of the Sun - "Into the Well"

-I blame some of you for not cluing me in that this band had a new album out.  Of course, it's the same people who I thank for introducing me to their excellent "Woven Tide."  I think I might like this new one even more.

    On Bandcamp, natch: https://ftmots.bandcamp.com/album/into-the-well

  • You could have knocked me down with a feather when I discovered earlier this morning that this was a 1963 Blue Note album. That's one of the things about not owning the physical artefact I guess. a mixture of ballads and hot drum work outs on the longer tracks.

  • I've not got many Allman Brothers or Greg Allman tracks but I am playing Jessica at the moment. UK people will recognise this as the Top Gear theme. RIP Greg Allman, a great guitarist in his time.

  • Another blow - wow.

  • Grateful Dead - 1977-05-17, University of Alabama
  • Sakuteiki
    Arve Henriksen - Sakuteiki

Found a nice little record shop in Bergen today, came away with some new Norwegian jazz listening for when I get home. Spent a blissful hour yesterday on the deck of a ferry across the fjord listening to Pjusk - Sval. One of those perfect moments when weather, surroundings, music, and mood all flowed together. The trumpet in Pjusk's more recent Solstøv is quite reminiscent of this Arve Henriksen album in places.
  • Thanks Doofy for this

The Last Sense To Leave Us, A Tribute To Pauline Oliveros

    A really outstanding tribute to a great lady . . .

  • This and another bunch of stuff from Horace's 'Nimbus West' label are available at Bandcamp, as well as eMusic.
  • Thanks to BN for this. Really hitting home this evening. I'm tempted to call it multifaceted; it may just be damn good.

Full stream of 'Just Passing Through' by The Greatest Hoax. Taken from the album 'Expiration Compositions' forthcoming on Serein (June 23rd, 2017). The album will be out on CD, Vinyl and digital formats.

Just Passing Through was first premiered by Cyclic Defrost on May 30th, 2017.

“Expiration Composition is not just an album about death; it reflects a sense of happiness for one’s life. The subject is often heavy, but my intention is to encourage listeners to appreciate their lives knowing they are finite.”

    – Taylor Jordan (The Greatest Hoax)
