As there is a discussion on Prog Rock, I thought I'd search out some to play. Probably a Yes record next!!This used to be quite a favourite of mine back in the day when I was a student. It is not available digitally, or wasn't a couple of years ago, so I am playing my original LP, crackles and all, that my brother converted for me to mp3
Well, since I've been listening to the letter P, it's good time for these. Not 70's, but labeled Prog Rock according to Discogs. I believe I have Porieux from Older Emusic days to thank for leading me to them. Porcupine Tree
@soulcoal Was excited to see the Bad Plus are playing nearby in a couple weeks...then realized we're booked to see Eighth Blackbird (playing Ligeti) that night. Too much good live music to choose from is a nice problem to have.
I believe I am listening to Eerie Prophecy by Arkane.
This album makes me kind of curious. It was one of the first electronic albums - maybe one of the first albums period - that I downloaded when I joined emusic back in 2004. I listened to it a lot and I still think it is a strong album. The curious thing is that it seems to have disappeared not only from emusic but from the internet. Neither Siri nor Shazam recognize the music.
This page (about the only real reference I can find in English) suggests that the artist should be Ar Kane and is Kliment Dichev (Soundcloud) from Bulgaria, who has a whole strong of releases, but I can't find this one. It just sounds too good in terms of production values to have sunk so totally, but I guess a fair bit of early netlabel stuff, like the Thinner releases, succumbed to that fate.
There is a great feature on Bandcamp concerning Mr Bongo records. I used to work almost next to the shop a few years ago and I remember standing outside and hearing the great music from within.
Listening to Welcome Home by Terry Callier which is a live recording from the Jazz Cafe in London. I saw him there on a couple of occasions, brings back great memories.
